Healing Units in Civilization VI

Recommended Videos

Every now and then, whether you’re going for a military or cultural victory, you’ll eventually get into battles with other units in Civilization VI. Needless to say, if your units aren’t strong enough, they could get seriously injured. Thankfully, there is a way to take them away from battle and restore their health before jumping back into the fray.

First off, if your unit is injured, try to pull them away from the enemy during your next turn. Scouts, in particular, have low defense, but high mobility, so they should be able to escape relatively easier. Once you’re out of the enemy’s range, click on the unit that you want to heal, and look for the Fortify option on their action menu bar. If the unit is at full health, fortifying them will simply strengthen them and give them a slight edge in their next combat encounter. However, do note that the fortification effect wears off once you move from your tile.

If your unit is hurt, you should see an extra option on their menu bar that allows you to fortify them until they’re back at full health. Once you do this, the unit will spend as many turns as they need to get back to peak performance levels, and you’ll be able to use them again.
