Call of Duty Warzone: What’s New in the Season 5 Update & When It Starts

Season 5 Update Warzone

While we have an extensive list of Season 5 patch notes for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there hasn’t been an official patch notes list for Warzone. That’s mainly because a lot of the new content and new weapon balancing crosses over with Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Cold War. In other words, a lot of the changes being made with the new Season 5 update applies to Warzone as well. In this guide, we’re going to outline what’s new in the Season 5 update for Warzone.

What’s New in the Season 5 Update for Warzone & When It Starts

In a nutshell, this new seasonal update will bring with it new weapons, new perks and new Operators to Warzone. That’s not all, though, as the Gulag is also being changed to the Rush map, some new points of interest will be introduced into Verdansk and two new Warzone-exclusive perks are being added into the game as well.

Season 5 will officially kick off later today, August 12 at 9pm PT/ 12am ET (Aug 13) / 5am BST (Aug 13).

Weapons

Specifically, there’ll be two free weapons that will be available to everyone, and they unlock at Tier 15 and Tier 31. Additionally, the EM2 assault rifle unlocks at Tier 15, and is a “British EM2 full-auto assault rifle.”

Meanwhile, the TEC-9 SMG will unlock at Tier 31, and is a uniquely powerful weapon that can “eliminate targets in three shots anywhere within 10 meters.” Sounds pretty unstoppable, right?

Perks

The two new perks that are being added to Warzone in the latest Season 5 update are called Combat Scout and Tempered.

Firstly, Combat Scout will mean that any enemies that you damage will be highlighted in bright orange and automatically pinged for your squad-mates. Of course, this’ll come in super handy for your team when you’re trying to identify the positions of any pesky enemies you can see in the area.

Next, we have Tempered which may be a bit of a game-changer. Tempered buffs Armor Plates so they absorb 75 damage instead of 50, meaning you only need two Armor Plates to be fully armored. Not only does this mean that you’ll be able to conserve armor plates for longer, but you’ll also be much quicker to fully armor up when the going gets tough.

Operators

While there’ll be a couple of new Operator skins for Woods and Baker, the new Kitsune Operator is the main one being added to Warzone in Season 5. Feel free to check out her trailer here:
