Warzone, Call of Duty’s new battle royale mode is finally out now. So that you can be the last person standing among the 150, here are our Warzone tips and tricks.
Find Cash, Save It, & Split It
Cash is pretty common throughout Verdansk. The floors and loot crates are full of piles that can be between $500 and $2000, and you pick it up automatically by just running over it. Just because it’s common though, that doesn’t mean it’s not important.
Cash allows you do buy things from Buy Stations, some of which can be hugely helpful to getting that W.
For thousands of dollars, you can buy things like killstreaks and armor packs, get a self-revive for later in the match, or even bring squadmates back from the dead.
To get everything you might want though, you’ll need a lot of cash, so search for it, collect it, and complete Contracts when you can to get the bonuses they offer.
Also, if you’re playing with friends, don’t spend it all too early on things you don’t need. It’s worth saving some to spend on reviving them if and when you need to later in the match.
Finally, make sure that your squad has a decent share of the cash. Having one person with far too much can be an issue because, if they then die, the rest of the squad can’t afford to revive them from a Buy Station. Just make sure your cash reserves are split and you’ll have the best chance to living long enough to win.

Choose Drop Location Carefully
Warzone’s map is gigantic. There are huge open airstrips, dense towns, and snowy mountains, each offering a bonus of some kind to help you stay out of danger. However, it’s best to pick where you’re dropping carefully if you’re not incredible at the game.
Unless you seriously trust your ability, dropping somewhere like the Boneyard, Airport (Terminal), or Stadium is just going to see you face off against tens of other players right from the start.
Starting somewhere quieter, near the edge of the map or outside the gas circle, will allow you to get your bearings and find some decent gear. You can then make your way in with the gas, staying safe before you engage as the match reaches the final stages.
Have Your Loadouts Finalized
Random Loadout Drops and the ability to call them in via Buy Stations give you the chance to use your own loadouts in Warzone.
Therefore, so that you’re not stuck with a terrible common shotgun for the whole match, it’s worth setting up your loadouts before jumping into the game, so that what you get from Loadout Drops will actually make a difference to your chances of winning.
Try and build them with Warzone in mind too. Snipers are generally more useful on the large map, with shotguns being less so, so don’t fill all your custom loadouts with short-range weapons that might not be much help to you.

Don’t Ignore Contracts
As we alluded to in the first section, Contracts can be a great source of cash in Warzone. Found on little yellow tablets across the map, they can be activated to give your squad side objectives that reward cash.
Now, we don’t recommend going out of your way to complete them or focusing on them entirely, but be sure to take advantage of them when it’s easy to do so.
Target-based ones, where you have to hunt a specific player, aren’t really worth the effort, but if you see loot crates or capture point contracts that are nearby (maybe around the 50-80 meters mark), go and complete them.
The few thousand dollars could be really helpful later in the game when you need to self-revive or bring a friend back from the dead.
Remember Your Armor
You start every game with two armor pieces already active, shown by the small blue bars by your health in the bottom left of the screen. Then, as you explore the map, you’ll find more and can fill up a third slot by holding triangle/Y.
It’s vital that you don’t forget to do this. Armor is common, so you’ll almost certainly find some after a minute or two of looking for a weapon, and it can be the difference between life and death.
As soon as you find one piece at the start, use it, and then whenever you take damage, think about armor once more as soon as you’re safe again.
Ping Everything, Everywhere
The ping system, as made popular by Apex Legends, is just as important in Warzone. You can point out where you want to go, where Buy Stations and vehicles can be found, and where good weapons are for your squad mates.
Also, by pressing up on the d-pad twice, you can change the ping icon to red to indicate danger. You can mark a spot in the general vicinity of action or even ping enemies to keep track of them.
The ping system is vital to keep your trio organized, and knowing where you’re heading ensures that no one gets lost or picked off by enemies. If it’s a piece of info you’d like to know yourself, ping it for everyone else. Start doing it in early matches and it’ll soon become second nature to you.

The Gas Is More Dangerous Than You Think
If you’ve played Fortnite, you’ll know that the storm isn’t generally something to worry too much about. If it’s still moving in, you can often out-run it, and even if you can’t it doesn’t do much damage to you in the first half of matches.
The gas in Warzone, however, is another story. Take your eyes off the closing circle, getting caught in the gas, will probably see you die.
It’s brutal in how it zaps your health, seeing you downed with ten seconds or so if you’re at full health when it catches you.
Therefore, be sure to keep an eye on it at all times, making sure you’re safe with plenty of time left before it stops moving.
Don’t Fear Death
Lastly for our Warzone tips and tricks: Death isn’t something to be as concerned about in Warzone as it is in the likes of Fortnite. You have multiple chances to come back to the action after being taken out.
First, you can buy self-revives from Buy Stations that allow you to quickly get up again after being downed.
Then, if you aren’t completely wiped out, you have the Gulag. Win the quick 1v1 and you’re back in the game. Even if you lose, your teammates can still head to Buy Stations and revive you if they have enough cash available.
All that means you don’t need to be so scared or employ conservative tactics in Call of Duty’s battle royale mode. You can be a little more aggressive and not bother with hiding at the start of the game. It makes the game a little more exciting, which is always a positive.
