What a Tactical Sprint is

Modern Warfare’s tactical sprint is basically the equivalent to switching to your knife in Counter-Strike, for anybody that’s familiar with that practice. It’s a realism thing, as well as introducing an added layer of complexity and strategy to sprinting.

Basically, you run faster when you point your weapon skyward, just as you would in real life.

How to Tactical Sprint in Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Performing a tactical sprint is very easy. If you’re playing on console, simply double click the thumbstick instead of holding it down as you typically would to sprint. For PC players, the default button should be SHIFT.

You’ll need to measure how often you use the tactical sprint, though, as it’s not infinite and runs out pretty quickly. Also, since your weapon is pointed in the air it’ll take much longer to aim down your gunsights if you happen to bump into an enemy.

It’s really best suited to larger maps when you need to dash between cover.

That should be everything you need to know about how to tactical sprint in Call of Duty Modern Warfare. For more useful tips and guides on the game, be sure to check out our extensive guide wiki.
