If you’ve been following Bowser’s Fury leading up to its launch, chances are you’ll have seen the trailer showcasing Mario in his Giga Cat form. The titular plumber can be transformer into a giant, gold cat throughout the game as he takes on a rampaging Giga Bowser. But how do you turn into Giga Cat Mario in Bowser’s Fury? Here’s everything you need to know.
Turning Into Giga Cat Mario in Bowser’s Fury
To transform into the giant cat Mario we’d seen in the trailers, you need to get enough Cat Shines to unlock the Giga Bell.
There are four different Giga Bells spread out across Lake Lapcat, and each one can be activated during Bowser’s rampages (when he appears, a storm rolls in, and fire rains down from the sky), once you’ve got the next amount of Cat Shines to progress.
The first time you can turn into Giga Cat Mario is after obtaining 5 Cat Shines. After this, when Bowser next shows up, you’ll be able to run over to the bell and interact with it to transform Mario into his enormous, feline form.
Can You Turn Into Giga Cat Mario Outside of Bowser Battles?
Unfortunately, no. While you can use a normal Bell power-up item to turn into Cat Mario, the Giga Bells will only be usable during the Bowser boss battles, which in turn unlock upon reaching the set amount of Cat Shines that each one states.
While this may come as disappointing news for some, the boss battles against Bowser as Giga Cat Mario really are something special. It more than makes up for it!
