What the New Level Cap Is in Borderlands 3 Guns, Love and Tentacles

As of this article’s writing and the release of Borderlands 3’s DLC Guns, Love and Tentacles, the game’s new level cap is 57.

This means that every character can currently be raised to level 57 by completing quests, defeating enemies and otherwise playing through the game. You can likewise get any perks tied to leveling up when leveling to 57, including new abilities and skills unlocked from each character’s skill trees.

Once you reach level 57, you’ll again be able to continue improving your character with Guardian Ranks, which will take the place of full level-ups. There are also new Guardian Rank skills to unlock, so even if you’ve maxed out a track, you’ll have something to put any newly-earned experience towards.

It should be noted, however, that this will only take effect after you’ve downloaded the latest patch for the game. If you haven’t, the level cap will still be at its lower level.

Fortunately, the update will trigger automatically as soon as you download Guns, Love and Tentacles, and as such shouldn’t be anything to worry about for those diving into the new content.
