Borderlands 3 introduces four new characters and classes for players to check out, and the classic Siren is back in the form of newcomer Amara. Here’s a guide to help you put together the best Amara build in Borderlands 3.
Borderlands 3 Best Amara Build Guide
As a Siren, Amara has access to three main Phase abilities, which make her a pretty good crowd control character who can excel whether you’re playing solo or in a group. With Amara, you can also choose to build her as a full melee character, or specialize in elemental damage.
Best Amara Melee Build in Borderlands 3
If you’d like to build Amara as a melee character, you’re gonna want to focus on the Brawl tree and Phaseslam ability.
In this tree, your ultimate goal is to get to Guardian Angel and the Glamour action skill augment. As a melee-focused character, it’s likely that you’ll get downed pretty often as you’re always in the thick of things, but Guardian Angel gives you an immediate Second Wind when your HP depletes.
This skill has a long cooldown of course, but it’s definitely enough for you to regain your composure and get back into the swing of things.
But before you do anything else, make sure you max out Clarity and Personal Space; the former ensures that you’re always regenerating health, while the latter increases your weapon damage the closer you are to enemies.
Samsara and Helping Hands are also key to your melee build, as Samsara stacks increase your gun damage and health regeneration, while Helping Hands grant you damage reduction when you activate your action skill.
While most of your focus will be in the Brawl tree, it’s also worth maxing out Restless in the Mystical Assault tree, which drastically reduces your action skill cooldown rate. In fact, I’d go so far as to call Restless a mandatory passive ability for any Amara build in Borderlands 3.
In the Mystical Assault tree, you’ll also find Soul Sap, which restores a portion of health back to you or an ally based on how much damage you’ve dealt with your action skill.
For melee Amara builds, focus on the following abilities:
- Restless
- Soul Sap
- Clarity
- Personal Space
- Samsara
- Helping Hands
- Find Your Center
- Jab Cross
- Illuminated Fist
- Guardian Angel
- Glamour
Best Amara Elemental Build in Borderlands 3
If you want to spec out Amara as an elemental Siren, your points will mostly be dumped into the Mystical Assault tree.
We say elemental, but really, this is one of the more versatile Amara builds you’ll get in Borderlands 3, and it’s perfect for players who like dealing elemental damage while also using whatever choice of weapons they want. It works with any weapon play style you have in mind, making this one of the more enjoyable builds to work with.
The action skill we favored here was Deliverance, which releases homing elemental projectiles that track nearby enemies. Couple that with Soul Sap, and you’ll have an Amara build that’s pretty much self-sufficient with little need to hunt for healing items. Quite the opposite of the Guardian Angel melee build we detailed above.
The abilities you want to go for are Wrath, Remnant, and of course, Avatar, which lets you activate your action skill when it’s on cooldown.
For elemental Amara builds, focus on the following abilities:
- Restless
- Soul Sap
- Avatar
- Wrath
- Remnant
- Tempest
- Personal Space
Both builds are equally viable in Borderlands 3’s solo or group play, though we’d definitely go with the more versatile elemental build if you’re just starting out in the game.
