Is Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Compatible With the PS4 Pro?
The newest iteration in the Call of Duty franchise is Black Ops 4 and finally, it’s almost here. With just a few days left to wait, it’s about time to stock up on Mountain Dew and Doritos (branded with Call of Duty sponsorship of course), and hopefully some water, in preparation for the weekend marathon millions and millions of players are about to endure. Before every Call of Duty marathon though, there are some important questions to ask. One of the most important for high-fidelity PS4 players has to do with PS4 Pros. Is Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 PS4 Pro compatible?
If you own a PS4 Pro, chances are you own a 4K TV. If that’s the the case, then you, like millions of others in the world, know just how incredible a game can look.
Some games don’t fully take advantage of the power in the PS4 Pro. It would seem CoD: Black Ops 4 will though.
CoD: Black Ops 4 will be playable in 4K for PS4 Pro owners with a 4K TV. Simply put, this means that the image quality of Black Ops 4 will be better. 4K is superior to 1080p in all ways.
On top of 4K capabilities, CoD: Black Ops 4 will also be HDR, or high definition range, compatible. While you don’t need a PS4 Pro to see the game with HDR, you do need a TV capable of HDR. Usually, a TV that has HDR is a 4K TV, although there are some exceptions.
If you have a standard PS4 and an HDR TV, you will be able to see Black Ops 4 utilize HDR. For the unaware, HDR essentially heightens the levels of contrasts between the color of black on screen and other colors.
Blacks will be more black, with some games coming close to an actual black (rather than a dark grey). Whites will be brighter. Blues will be deeper and reds will be more dramatic. The sun will shine through leaves with more definition, and more realistic features, and so on.
At the end of the day, HDR is the true gamechanger when it comes to graphical fidelity. Sure, 4K is nice too, but HDR will really make what you see on screen pop. 4K and HDR, though? That’s the prettiest picture you will see while playing a game.
So, long story short, if you have CoD: Black Ops 4, a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro, you will be able to play the game in 4K and HDR. There will be other enhancements exclusive to the PS4 Pro, but as of now, those have not been detailed.
