The newest installment in the series changes the combat from beating up your opponents in real-time to a turn-based style JRPG fans will definitely feel more at home with.

NieR: Automata Become as Gods

Anyone who is a big fan of the Suikoden series is going to love Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. Not only does Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of Suikoden, serve as director, but it also features the same gameplay and ambiance as its sibling series.

In this 2D side-scrolling JRPG, players assume the role of CJ, a teenage girl in search of adventure and treasure. Along the way, she picks up many jobs that result in meeting plenty of interesting characters and friends who aid her on her quest. As the story progresses, new areas unlock in conventional Metroidvania fashion, making for an intriguing labyrinth of exploration.

On top of an intriguing story, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising also has some really stunning visuals that you’ll really want to experience on a high-fidelity console like the Xbox Series X. Whether it is the detailed pixel backdrops of the game’s settings or the flurry of colors that pop-up on screen when a combo attack is expected, there is no denying this experience is a treat for the eyes a 60FPS in 4K.
