I usually don’t give realistic armor Skyrim mods a chance just because they’re typically uninspiring. However, this one by NordWarUA is hands-down one of the best Skyrim mods I saw in May 2020.
I get that Skyrim is based in a world of fantasy. I love all the fantastical armor sets like Daedric and Dragonplate. But when you want something more based in reality than that, then this mod can’t be beaten. Not only are the armor sets realistic, but the attention to detail makes them look fantastic.
HD Reworked Dragons

Skyrim is going to turn nine this year and the dragons are still just as majestic as they were back then. This HD Reworked Dragons mod gives those airborne fire-breathing beasts a brand new coat of paint. If you love dragons, then you’ll absolutely love this mod.
You’ll notice that many of the rough edges on the vanilla dragons will be cleaned up a bit. Halk Hogan PL has also updated normal maps and textures to look stunning in 4K. Even if you’re not a huge fan of dragons, this is clearly one of the best Skyrim mods from May 2020.
Skyrim Music Editor

It’s time for all you aspiring SoundCloud composers to get your tracks into Skyrim. While not truly a mod, the Skyrim Music Editor by Alapaches makes the process of adding your own audio tracks to Skyrim much easier than doing it manually.
That means you can even make your own recordings with your friends and toss them into the game to make for some truly hilarious situations. Or if you’ve had enough of dudes shouting DOVAHKIIN, DOVAHKIIN, then you can toss whatever you want in there instead.
Skyrim Anime Opening

I always gotta toss in a fun mod or two just because you can only check out so many chicken overhaul mods before you start to lose your mind. Download this add-on, then sit back, relax, and enjoy this Skyrim Anime Opening Mod.
That’s all there is to it. This mod will replace the Bethesda Game Studios splash screen when you start up the game with this anime intro. I would be willing to argue that this is the best possible way to start up Skyrim in general. Anime intros make any piece of media objectively better.
Skyrim Pinball
Best New Skyrim Mods May 2020
Finally, we will wrap up this list with one of the most bizarre and creative Skyrim mods I’ve ever seen. If the Windows Pinball isn’t enough for you, then this Skyrim Pinball mod by Asaforg is what you need. This is almost too ridiculous for words.
This mod is the standalone version of an add-on for the Endless Horizon Home mod, also by Asaforg. That means you don’t need the home mod to play Skyrim Pinball, but it’s strongly encouraged to support dedicated modders. It’s still a little janky, but such a creative idea deserves a try.
