reverse proposal

To start off our list of best Stardew Valley mods from April 2021, this mod acts as a reverse proposal for bachelors in the game. This means that eligible marriage candidates will ask you to be their girlfriend or boyfriend when they have a high enough friendship. You can accept their proposal or turn it down.

Currently, this mod only includes the male bachelors: Sebastian, Elliot, Shane, Alex, Sam, and Harvey. The creator is also working on adding the bachelorettes to the mod as well as other additions in the future.

Cottagecore Fences

This mod changes the craftable fences in the game to have a cute cottagecore aesthetic. There are different textures for each season that can be disabled, including vines, moss, and petals.

If you have an island farm, all of the fences have summer textures, as there is no snow in tropical weather, adding a sense of realism. These fences are adorable if you’re trying to create a rural, natural feeling on your farm. The mod also lists several other packs that fit the cottagecore theme to pair nicely with your new fences.

Toolbelt Selection Wheel

Sometimes it can be annoying to switch between tools, so this mod gives you a toolbelt as a selection wheel.

The toolbelt lets you change as quickly as two button presses: one to pull up the selection wheel and another to choose the tool you want. You can configure the controls in a number of ways to make switching between your items as seamless as possible.

You can also toggle between item background on or off to improve visibility if you’re having a hard time seeing which tool is which.

Purchasable Clay

purchasable clay

This mod is incredibly simple, but it may be the exact thing you need to save yourself a lot of time. It allows clay to be purchased from Robin’s shop.

This can save you a lot of hassle, especially early on in a game when you need retaining soil fertilizer on beach farms. You need clay to craft this, but tilling soil is time-consuming, and purchasing the fertilizer is expensive.

This option allows you to buy clay directly at a cheap price to make the process a lot easier.

Alpacas

alpacas

This simple mod adds alpacas as a type of barn animal for you to raise. It can be used with the Better Farms Animal Variety mod.

Additionally, alpaca yarn and alpaca wool are added as products. The wool is more durable and valuable than sheep wool. Use shears on them just as you would with your sheep.

More than anything, this mod is worth the download for that fact that you’ll now be able to have an adorable alpaca for your own personal pet.

Downtown Zuzu

downtown zuzu

While the Downtown Zuzu mod is still in early alpha, there are still a lot of exciting things to do in it. This has a total of 13 areas in the city for you to explore with plenty of NPCs to meet and befriend. There are even custom foods and other items in the Downtown Zuzu.

A few of the characters in Stardew Valley mention Zuzu City, so it is cool that this mod lets you experience this place for yourself. Though the creator of the mod revealed that not everything is fully fleshed out yet, they did also say there are updates planned in the future, along with an entire Discord server that’ll help fans stay up to date with the latest changes.

Skillful Clothes

skillful clothes mod

Clothes in Stardew Valley can be quite fashionable, but they’re not too useful, as they don’t affect anything stat-wise for your character. This mod gives some use to them by adding skills and buffs to some shirts, pants, and hats, similar to how rings work.

For example, the Grass Skirt increases your foraging skills, the Straw Hat increases your farming skills, and the Fishing Vest increases your fishing bar. This adds a little extra incentive to dress accordingly to the tasks you have planned for each day.

Event Lookup

If you need some extra organization to manage your tasks and remember events, this event lookup mod is for you. It adds a GUI and commands to look up events by their ID or character name.

There’s also a helpful function that shows you every event that is available to you each day in the in-game interface. No more forgetting if you’ve talked to a character yet today or missing a heart event because you weren’t keeping careful track.

It also reminds you how to do these things in case you aren’t sure how or have forgotten.

Insect Valley

If you’ve already caught every fish and mined every mineral in Stardew Valley, you might be looking for more things to collect. Embrace your inner Animal Crossing and use this mod that adds insects to the game.

The mod adds a total of 30 insects that you can catch to collect for display or sell for money. There are 10 unique insects for each season (except for winter which has none, since they are in hiding until spring).

From honeybees to cicadas, there is plenty of variety here to spruce up Stardew Valley.

Finally, this mods adds a ton of new produce and trees to the game, including 30 unique crops and 50 unique trees, many of which are so rare you probably have never heard of them before.

The produce features plenty of uncommon types, including hardy kiwi, salal berries, tiger nuts, and tomatillos. There is also a huge variety of trees in this mod, such as honey figs, macadamias, rumberries, and Jamaican cherries.

You’re bound to learn some new type of crop or tree by using this mod, and the designs are all unique so they’ll look great on your farm as well.
