Leaders Additions, Changes, Revamps

Best Civilization VI Mods From December 2017

As is usual for the community, plenty of Leader and Civilization changes come into play each month. These can either be whole new leaders and civilizations or changes to existing ones. Here are the new ones added in, in case any tickle your fancy.

Maps

Best Civilization VI Mods From December 2017

Each month, modders like to add in whole new ways to play. One such way to spice up your game is to change up the world you’re playing in. Here are some new maps you can install and add to your playthroughs.

Automated Builders & Archaeologists

This one’s extremely useful for those of us that get tired of telling our builders and archaeologists what to do. With it, automation is as easy as the flip of a switch. Archaeologists and Builders will look for something to do at the beginning of each turn and if there’s nothing, they’ll just automatically go to sleep. The creator even made a Mac/Linux version, too.

Zombie Unit

If you’re a fan of Left 4 Dead or Zombies, this mod is for you! It adds the zombie unit type that greatly changes combat versus Barbarians. Here’s what happens, as per the official description:

“Every time a Barbarian Unit kills a unit, 2 zombies will generate, one of them could be a special infected. After a Barbarian Camp is removed from the map, 5 zombies will generate and two of them could be special infected. There is a random chance to generate a Hunter, Spitter, Boomer, Charger, Smoker, Jockey, or Tank.”

City Gold Mine

If you’re always strapped for cash, you might want to download this mod. It allows your civilization to build a City Gold Mine which will add 150 gold per turn for your civ. It’s for those that love to roll in the dolla dolla bills, y’all.

Population Notification

Instead of getting a pop-up to let you know that some Populations have changed, download and install this mod to have it be a simple notification that drops down on the right-hand side of your screen, next to all other normal notifications.

Housing and Amenity Adjustments

This will change up the way housing and amenities do stuff in Civilization VI. Here’s a full rundown of what’s done differently.

  • The Aqueducts give +3 housing to cities that already have fresh water access, instead of just +2.
  • -50% population growth due to limited housing now kicks in at 0 housing, instead of 1.
  • -75% population growth due to limited housing now kicks in at -2 housing, instead of 0.
  • A happy city now gets +15% population growth instead of +10%.
  • An ecstatic city now gets +30% population growth instead of +20%.
  • Cities no longer get 1 amenity for free, while the palace give +2 amenities from entertainment, instead of +1.

Resources at a Glance

If you’re all about UI and ease of use, this mod’s for you! With it, you’ll be able to cycle through resources, at a glance as the name suggests, in the top bar on your screen.

Wonders Additions and Changes

Best Civilization VI Mods From December 2017

Here’s another category that gets often updates each month: Wonders. The community loves to add in new wonders or change the way they work already within the game. Here are some new mods for you to consider for your playthroughs.

Nukes For All

Some people love to watch the world burn. This mod allows any military unit to launch a nuke, removes the tech or resource requirements to launch them, sets the production of nukes to one turn, and basically means the destruction of the human race in your game.

Diplomacy Defeat

A new way to lose the game is always fun, right? Well, here’s the Diplomacy Defeat. It pays to have friends, and with this installed, if you make too many enemies… you’ll be out of luck.

More Quotes

If you, like me, love the quotes riddled throughout the game, then you’ll also be happy to know that there’s a mod to increase the amount of quotes you’ll come across.

Strategy Changes

This one promises to add a bunch of strategy into the game. Here’s a full rundown of how it works and what it does/changes, from the official description:

  • Every time AI player loses a unit or kills his opponent in a battle it gets some Science points.
  • In case of siege of AI city while at war with human player, AI promptly drafts one combat unit from this city population for defense.
  • Unhappiness makes revolts even more likely with this update. City grow is not altered with this mod anymore. AI is assisted with dedicated script to handle this new setup.
  • Campus district adjacency bonus buffed to standard (+1).
  • Science buildings yield increased by +2.

Captured Settlers Become Builders

Look, sometimes you don’t want more settlers. You just wanted to hurt the competition. We’ve all been there. This makes it so that captured settlers will become the much more useful builder units.

Barbarians Changes

Here are some mods to make changes to Barbarians. Whether you want to make it more difficult or less, these will help you out.

Immersive Eras & Realistic Research

Best Civilization VI Mods From December 2017

Here’s a sweet two in one for you. This one will include the Immersive Eras and Realistic Research mods into one. Check it out in case either of these will meet your needs!

Unit Flag Transparency Change
