Best Minecraft Mods of May 2019
Even More TNT
Chiefly, Minecraft is about two things: building things and messing things up.
There is no shortage of mods that promote the former, but sometimes you need an add-on that focuses on nothing except complete annihilation of the world around you. No fuss, no arguments, just a big bang and a high mortality rate.
Even More TNT gives you exactly what it says on the box, to the tune of 1,000 times as much trinitrotoluene to play around with.
It even adds various novelty explosives like gravitational TNT, airstrike TNT and teleporting TNT to help increase your chances of inadvertently obliterating yourself in the process.
At least you went out with a bang.
More Enchantments
You can never have enough enchantments in life. Sure, if it was some crazy amount like 3,592,411 enchantments, that might be considered excessive, but you’ll probably find at least a minor way to use most of them.
This particular Minecraft mod adds things like alpha fire to shovels, axes and pickaxes, curse of the end for armor, and familiarity to axe and sword, which is very useful when you keep forgetting who your axe and sword are.
About the only thing we can’t support for this mod is its title, because there are literally thousands of other mods called the exact same thing. Maybe instead of just more enchantments, we could also have more variety, hmm?
WildNature
Nature is a beautiful thing.
The whimsical sight of the morning sun rising over a dewy pond. A family of animals grazing calmly in a tranquil forest. Some jerk with a diamond axe recklessly destroying everything in sight.
If this sounds up your alley, it’s time to add WildNature to your Minecraft experience.
This mod is absolutely jam-packed with features, including 77 new types of biomes, 15 varieties of tree, new animals and even additional logs for the aspiring lumberjacks out there.
With such a wealth of content, it will take you months before you run out of things to see and do and kill.
Not Enough Cats
Survival in Minecraft requires two crucial elements: your wits and your weapons. Keep those about you, and you just might make it through the night.
But maybe, just maybe, there is a third key to success that has been as of yet unexplored. Could the true solution to all of your problems be an army of kitties?
…No? Oh well screw you, we like it anyway.
Not Enough Cats bumps up the number of feline textures, so you can find the perfect pussycat for you. You could even ask it what’s new if you’re so inclined, because dated Tom Jones references always get a laugh.
Pet ‘Em
So you’ve got your ideal cat now, thanks to the previous mod. It looks up at you, meowing expectantly. Alas, even though your furry ally is by your side, you still feel incomplete.
This is because, of course, you cannot pet them.
Don’t let your animal allies go unloved. Add the Pet ‘Em mod to your arsenal, and you can finally give kittehs, puppers and doggos a boop. Perhaps someday your exploits will even make it to the wildly popular Twitter account, Can You Pet the Dog?
Beware, however, because if you attempt to pet a wolf that you have not tamed, it will growl at you. Only consensual touching is permitted.
BetterPortals
Imagine this: you’re about to fly away on a family holiday. You’ve been waiting for this moment for months, every hour of backbreaking labor made tolerable by the simple fact that you will be rewarded with a relaxing vacation at long last.
You arrive at the airport, check in your luggage, board the plane… and then you’re sent to a completely random location somewhere, anywhere, in the entire world. You could end up in a war zone, or deep within the belly of a volcano, or even front row at a Kesha concert — somewhere truly terrible.
Traveling with BetterPortals eases this threat, however, by allowing you to see your destination at a glance, and even pass through them without a loading screen. What sort of sorcery is this? We can only wonder, and revel in its splendor.
Fish’s Undead Rising
We’re not so sure about this enigmatic fish0016054 character, but one thing is clear from the mod they have unleashed upon the world: they want us all to be very, very dead.
That’s the only possible explanation for the undead rising mod, which hounds your every turn with vile creatures great and small. They probably don’t want to give you a lovely handshake, but you can risk it, if you’d like.
From undead swine to slithering parasites, you’ll be up to your ears in dangerous encounters. Our favorites are the foglets, ghoulish creatures that hide in patches of fogs near swamps and rivers. They kind of look like evil koalas, and they’re highly marketable.
Everything is a Hat
There are times when we have had suspicions that many things are a hat. Indeed, occasionally we even dare to believe that most things are a hat. But have you ever dreamt of a world where everything is a hat?
Dream no more. For you can wear it all.
This sublime mod will render any item into a wearable headpiece, whether it’s a block or a piece of gold or something that would probably kill you if you intended to use it as a fashion statement.
You could spend hours experimenting with this mod, and the results will always be the same, for everything is a hat.
Your noggin will never be cold again, unless you chose to use a chunk of ice as a hat. But you were probably expecting that.
Left 2 Mine
It’s been nearly a decade since we last gathered our allies to fend off horrific threats such as the boomer, the tank and the witch.
Despite this, the impression Valve’s wonderful FPS games have left on us is still felt to this day, as fans hungrily scoop up any Left 4 Dead-related content like zombies scoop up some tasty, tasty brains.
For this reason, it’s easy to recommend Left 2 Mine, an ambitious mod that encourages teamwork and survival, and even implements the revolutionary AI director that adjusts the challenge according to your gameplay methods.
Maybe it’s time to finally admit that this is the closest we’re going to get to a third title in the series? Let that one sink in for a moment before making your angry comments.
Dragon Murder
Admittedly, some of these mods are added under duress, simply because of demand from the community.
With all kinds of lovely, charming mods that enhance your playing experience through new experiences, wonderful creatures and weapons, or something completely triumphant like better oofing, it is clear what the average Minecraft fan really wants.
With nearly 300,000 downloads on Curseforge alone, it is perhaps the most popular Minecraft mod we have ever included in these listings. It makes the ender dragon die immediately upon spawning.
As the team at Twinfinite are avid draconic enthusiasts, we neither understand nor condone such wanton slaying of these glorious beasts. Don’t make us sic the otherkin community on you, their fursuits make them practically impervious to damage!
