Is There Multiplayer? – Berserk and the Band of the Hawk
For those who decided to pick up Berserk and the Band of the Hawk, you’re in for a lot of action as you chop your way through countless thieves, knights, and demons. If you were hoping to share the gore-fest with another player, though, you’re out of luck unfortunately. All of the demon chopping and bloodletting can only be done by a single player on PS4, PC, or PS Vita. The only way you can share the experience is by passing over the controller. In other words, there is no multiplayer in Berserk.
It’s not entirely clear why Omega Force decided to go completely single-player for Berserk and the Band of the Hawk. It perhaps has to do with the major focus being on the story, a story that has you only able to control Guts for 90% of it with no backup. That makes it impossible for a partner to grab someone else available during a mission. Then there’s the Endless Eclipse mode which is all about testing your skill with the odds stacked against you. Again, no room for multiplayer because it would make the entire affair a bit too easy.
It’s unfortunate that all the content forces you to play alone, but you can at least imagine defending your friends as you chop hundreds of enemies up into tiny pieces at once.
