How to Fly the Helicopter in Battlefield 2042

Flying helicopters in most games are a bit tricky because of the nature of the vehicle. It pushes force downward to propel upwards, so sometimes the physics of helicopters can throw people off. It’s not hard, though, once you get the hang of it.

Flying Helicopter on Controller in Battlefield 2042

The Battlefield 2042 helicopter controls can be summed up this way. For controller users, The left stick will control acceleration. Pushing it up will accelerate while pushing it down, backward towards you, will decelerate. Pushing the left stick to the left will yaw the Helicopter to the left (aka orientate your camera to face what is to the left of you), while pushing to the right will do the opposite.

The right stick will control the pitch of the Helicopter. If you push the stick down, you will bring the back of the helicopter down towards the ground and the nose will point up. Likewise, pushing it up instead will point the nose of the helicopter towards the ground. Pushing left and right on this stick will swing the whole helicopter over in that direction.

Using these movements in tandem is how you fly the helicopter with precision. For example, if you wanted to move the helicopter backward, you would push up on the left stick to make the helicopter accelerate and then down towards you on the right stick to bring have the helicopter start moving backward.

If you wanted to strafe quickly in a certain direction, you could push up on the left stick to accelerate and then right on the right stick to quickly move in that direction.

Also, you can also push nothing when you’re high up in the air, and the helicopter will just hover for you, if you ever need to catch your breath.

It’s probably best if you play against the AI to familiarize yourself first because trying to learn while everyone wants to murder you online is a recipe for disaster.

At any point, you can go into the settings and rebind/tinker with any of the controls if you find that the default is not working for you. Again, you need to experiment/practice, though, to figure out what works best for you. If you’re serious about flying helicopters in Battlefield 2042, it’s important to be patient and learn how to do it properly.

Flying Helicopter With Mouse and Keyboard

On a mouse and keyboard, the experience is basically the same with the obvious difference being the different inputs you’ll use.

The WASD keys replace the left stick in this scenario but function exactly the same. Press W will accelerate the Helicopter while S decelerates. The mouse replaces the right analog stick, and pushing the mouse forward will tilt the nose down while bringing the mouse backward will bring the nose up instead.
