How to Get a Flaming Sword in Assassin’s Creed Origins

There are some story spoilers in this guide for Assassin’s Creed Origins. Turn back if you don’t want a major plot point revealed.

There are several different status effects in Assassin’s Creed Origins, but none can cause as much panic and mayhem as fire. Normally to spread flames you’d need a Fire Bomb or a fire source somewhere in the vicinity of your enemies. Get lucky and destroy an oil pot next to a flame and some enemies and you’ve got a murderous cookout going. However, one of the most fun, and useful, ways to spread flames is with a flaming sword. Yes, Assassin’s Creed Origins lets players get a flaming sword.

No, this isn’t done by dipping your blade in fire (which would admittedly be kinda cool). Instead, the flaming sword is a legendary weapon that is always on fire. Anything you hit will catch on fire and it will spread to nearby enemies and any other flammable items nearby. It is called Hepzefa’s Sword, it has a 3/4 Critical Hit Rate, 2/4 Adrenaline on Hurt, and the ability to set anything it hits ablaze. Its description is as follows:

“A mysterious weapon with unique attributes. Whispers of its magical properties have spread to the bounds of the known world.”

You can obtain Hepfeza’s Sword for yourself simply by progressing the story. After taking out the Scorpion and being stopped from doing the same to the Jackal, some time will pass. Eventually, it is revealed that there is also a Lion and he is headed towards Siwa, Bayek’s town. Return there to find that Bayek’s friend, Hepfeza, has been killed by the Lion. Completing this quest will reward you with Hepfeza’s Sword, a flaming sword that will prove to be one of your new favorite weapons.

Now go forth and set the world of Assassin’s Creed Origins alight with your flaming sword. For more on Assassin’s Creed Origins, be sure to check out our wiki.
