HOW TO MAKE KIBBLE IN ARK: SURVIVAL EVOLVED
Taming dinos is a big part of ARK: Survival Evolved, and kibble is a food item that will help you achieve that more quickly. It is essentially cat nip for the creatures of ARK — favorite foods that will tame them faster and with higher affinity. By using the correct type, players will not only save time but also end up with better stats on their tamed dino.
Similar to how dinos have their own preferred foods that they will respond better to, they also have their own favorite type of kibble that will maximize taming effects. Feeding a dino the wrong type of kibble is not effective and will produce less favorable results than just feeding them their favorite foods (or even raw meat). It is, therefore, essential to know which variety you need for the dino you’re trying to tame.
That being said, kibble is also used when rearing baby dinos, and they may crave different types during hand feeding. The general rule of thumb is that you’ll want to have plenty of different types handy at all times.
Kibble needs to be cooked using a combination of different ingredients depending on which dino you’re trying to tame and which variety you’re trying to make. You do not need an engram, just follow the instructions every time.
Use either a cooker or industrial cooking pot. You will obviously require fuel to make a fire. Although different kibble requires unique ingredients, almost all kibble recipes require 2 × Mejoberries, 3 × Fiber, and a Waterskin (or other water-container) with at least 25% water in it. Quetzal Egg kibble is the exception which requires 100 × Mejoberries and 120 × Fiber instead of the aforementioned quantities.
When creating kibbles in an Industrial Cooker which is hooked up to a water irrigation system, waterskins or other water-containers are not necessary. Note that fertilized eggs can also be used in the recipe.
Clearly, you’re going to need a lot of eggs. For that reason, consider breeding creatures to generate eggs on-demand.
Some example recipes are as follows (in addition to the aforementioned standard ingredients):
- Raptor = Parasaur Egg + Longrass + Cooked Meat or Jerky
- Megaloceros = Dimorph Egg + Longrass + Cooked Meat or Jerky
- Rex / Beelzebufo = Pulmonoscorpius Egg + Longrass + Prime Meat + Prime Meat Jerky
A full list of recipes can be found here.
Note that it takes 30 seconds to cook one kibble in a Cooking Pot.
That’s all you need to know about where to get kibble and how to make it. ARK: Survival Evolved is out on Xbox One, PS4, and PC now.
