How to Catch the Suckerfish in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Catching the Suckerfish in Animal Crossing New Horizons is actually pretty straightforward –it’s exactly the same as catching a shark, except instead of catching a badass shark and selling it for tons of money, you get a less valuable fish instead.

To catch a Suckerfish, you’ll need to go to the sea and look for a fish silhouette with a fin on it. It’s very distinctive, so you should be able to spot it fairly easily.

Cast your line with the fishing rod equipped, wait for the fish to bite and for the lure to sink, and then press the A button to reel it in. Make sure to wait for the fish to properly bite on the line –you’ll know this when the lure sinks beneath the sea line with a distinctive ‘plop’ sound.

The Suckerfish can be caught during all times of the day, but depending on whether you’re in the northern or southern hemisphere, the shark season may vary.

Sharks will spawn during the following months for both hemispheres:

  • North hemisphere: June to September
  • South hemisphere: December to March

Selling Price

Compared to the sharks in Animal Crossing New Horizons, the Suckerfish isn’t quite as valuable or as impressive-looking. That’s why it’s called the Suckerfish.

It only sells for 1,500 Bells at Nook’s Cranny and CJ will take it for 2,250 Bells whenever he visits. Even so, it’s not a great sum of money and they’re not really worth catching if you can help it.

That’s all you need to know about the Suckerfish in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
