Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Catch Peacock Butterfly

catch Peacock Butterfly, new horizons

Bug catching is a big part of the Animal Crossing experience and there are 80 or so to catch in New Horizons. Rather confusingly, however, the method of how to catch each of them is only listed in your Critterpedia after you’ve actually caught one. That means the process is basically guesswork until you happened to have done it once before. For that reason, we’re guiding you through how to catch a Peacock Butterfly in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

How to Catch a Peacock Butterfly in Animal Crossing New Horizons

The Peacock Butterfly will spawn next to hybrid flowers only in the months of March – June in the Northern hemisphere and September – December in the Southern. Importantly, it’ll only show up in the early hours of the morning between 4 AM – 7 PM.

To catch one, simply visit a location in which blue hybrid flowers are located during the above window and wait for one to spawn (for information on breeding all hybrid flowers, read our dedicated guide here). Once one has, grab your bug-catching net from your tool kit and swipe one by hitting A.

If you’re interested in the value of the Peacock Butterly it’s a very decent 2,500 Bells.
