When it comes to getting around your island, until you’re very well-versed with where everything is, you’re going to need some help.

That’s where the map comes in! You’ll use it to get a lay of the land, where you are, and where everything is located.

It’s especially good for finding out where your neighbors live, as it actively notes their houses right there for you.

How to Open the Map in Animal Crossing New Horizons

When it comes to getting the map open, you’re going to want to open up your Nook Phone.

Press ZL on your controller and you’ll bring up the phone menu. Next, highlight the Map option and select it with A.

You’re going to bring up the map, which will allow you to highlight different buildings to see what they are or who lives there. Like I said, it’s very useful for getting a lay of the land at first.

If you just want a quick look, though, you could always just stand still for a couple of seconds and a mini-map will appear on the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

It has fewer features, obviously, but it’s still handy to take a look at where you’re going and what’s around you. You wouldn’t want to suddenly get stuck and have to call Rescue Services

That’s all there is to it! That’s how to open the map in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
