How to Find Wisp the Ghost in Animal Crossing New Horizons

The most important thing about finding Wisp is that he can only appear on your island at night. This might seem obvious—he is a ghost, after all—but if you are searching during the morning or afternoon, he will not show up.

The other thing to note is that he can appear anywhere on your island, meaning that if you don’t yet have a vaulting pole or ladder, he might be inaccessible at first. He can appear anywhere, but he often hangs out around the shorelines.

Wisp shouldn’t be too hard to spot. Once you see a ghost floating around, approach and talk to him. He will immediately become spooked, and parts of his spirit will break apart and float away.

This will embarrass Wisp, and he will ask you to help him track down all five parts of his spirit and return them to him.

You’ll need a bug net for this. Roam around your island and search for the floating teal-colored spirits. Again, these might appear anywhere, so if you don’t have a vaulting pole or ladder, you might not be able to reach them all.

Use your net to catch all five spirits and return them to Wisp. He will reform into his normal ghost shape.

After helping Wisp, he will reward you, and you get a choice. You can either choose an item you don’t have yet or an expensive item.

It doesn’t matter too much which option you pick because even choosing an expensive item grants you something random. I picked an expensive item and was rewarded with a wet floor sign that sold for only 222 bells. Not the most expensive, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers.

Once Wisp gives you an item, he will thank you and disappear, and he may randomly appear at night again in the future.
