Goliath Beetle Seasonality & Spawn Times

The Goliath Beetle can only be caught during certain months each year. This seasonality depends on whether your island is in the northern or southern hemisphere. We’ve listed the months you can catch a Goliath Beetle for both hemispheres below:

  • Northern Hemisphere: June – September
  • Southern Hemisphere: December – March

The Goliath Beetle can only be caught between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM during these months. In other words, you’ll need to play in the evening or very early morning if you want to catch one.

Catching the Goliath Beetle in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Before you can catch a Goliath Beetle, you’ll need to make sure you’ve got access to a palm tree. These can either be found by visiting a Mystery Island via a Nook Miles Ticket, or by having one planted on your island. Goliath Beetles only spawn on palm trees, so if you don’t have access to one, you cannot catch one.

To catch a Goliath Beetle, play the game between 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Keep checking all the palm trees you have access to and lookout for a large beetle reddish in color.

When you spot one, press and hold A on your Switch to ready your net and begin slowly creeping towards it.

Once you’ve lined up your swing, let go of A and as long as you’ve got it right, you’ll have caught a Goliath Beetle.

Goliath Beetle Sell Price

The Goliath Beetle can be sold for 8,000 Bells to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny.

Alternatively, if Flick is visiting your island, seek him out. He’ll buy the Goliath Beetle for 12,000 Bells, making it well worth your time.
