The Giant Trevally is one of the many fish you’ll need to catch if you’re going to fill out your museum and unlock those coveted golden tools. The problem is, this fish is particularly rare and can be hard to catch. This Animal Crossing New Horizons Giant Trevally guide will talk you through how to catch it, what location it can be caught in, and how much you can sell it for.
Catching the Giant Trevally
The Giant Trevally can be caught during all 24 hours throughout the day, so you can catch it whenever you’re playing during the following months that it’s available:
- Northern Hemisphere – May – October
- Southern Hemisphere – November – April
As long as you’re playing during the above months, the Giant Trevally can be caught as long as you know where to go.
To catch the Giant Trevally, you’ll want to fish off your Pier. This will be found somewhere on the beaches of your island and is made of a brown wood, shown below.
Once you get here, you’ll want to simply equip your fishing rod and begin fishing off the end of the pier. The Giant Trevally is the smallest of the fish that can be caught by fishing off the end of the Pier, so simply look for a large (not extra-large) shadow and with a bit of luck a shadow will appear.
It’s worth keeping in mind that the Trevally is rare, so it’s unlikely you’ll spot these large shadows very often. You can always craft and use Fish Bait to force fish to spawn here, which should be the easiest way to catch one.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Giant Trevally Sell Price
The Giant Trevally can be sold to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny for 4,500 Bells. Keep in mind that if you use the drop-off box just outside the store itself, the raccoon brothers will take a cut of the sale value for the convenience.
If CJ shows up on your island, you can sell it to him for 1.5x its standard value. That means it can be sold to CJ for 6,750 Bells if you’re lucky enough to have him to show up.
