Animal Crossing New Horizons is full of things for you to customize and control, such as your home, your entire deserted island, your clothing, and much much more. Although you’re able to choose your island name at the beginning of the game, you might be wondering whether you can change your island name in Animal Crossing New Horizons. If so, here’s what you need to know about that.
Can You Change Your Island Name in Animal Crossing New Horizons?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news today but unfortunately, you can not change your island name in Animal Crossing New Horizons after you choose at the beginning of the game.
When you first boot up the game and choose the location of your little tent, Tom Nook will eventually hold a small ceremony and he’ll ask you to name the deserted island. You can choose any name that is 10 characters or less and once you pick it, there’s no going back.
The only way to change your island name would be to reset your game by deleting your save data in the Switch settings and starting a brand-new island. If you’ve just started the game and you feel like you made a wrong decision in naming your island, restarting might be a good way to go but we don’t recommend it if you’ve sunk hours into the game already.
There could possibly be an update from Nintendo in the future that lets you change your island name in Animal Crossing New Horizons so we’ll update this guide if that ever happens.
If you need help picking an island name, you should totally check out this handy feature or just use a random name generator.
