Age of Wonders Planetfall, the new turn based strategy game from Triumph Studios and Paradox Interactive, is out now and you’ll probably want to test out the game’s multiplayer offerings. If you want to play alongside a friend, here’s everything you need to know about how to play co-op multiplayer in Age of Wonders Planetfall.
There are actually a few different multiplayer options in the game. First of all, you can jump in to take on friends as they control another faction and you take your turn to make moves, in what the game calls “hot-seat mode.”
However, since the game is pretty tactical, you might want to work together with a friend in co-op multiplayer to become the mighty faction by annexing all the nearby sectors. Thankfully, you can do just that.
You can play co-op locally from one system, working together to take on the other factions. You can also play in hot-seat mode here, with each player controlling a different faction, but you’ll have to rely on your friends not cheating when they see your move on the screen you’re all using.
How to Play Co-Op Multiplayer in Age of Wonders Planetfall
It’s the local co-op multiplayer you’ll want, though. To set up a game like that, go to the game’s menu and click the Teams option that you’ll see there, and you’ll be able to set the number of players you want to be a part of the game.
You will also be able to change the spread of players in factions and whether you’re taking on all the AI or just forming an alliance in a free for all.
Do note, however, that if you’re playing in hot-seat mode, with people taking turns to make their moves, you will not be able to play against other players online.
