Play Curator’s Cut
Playing through Man of Medan’s Theatrical Cut is just part of the story. Sure, you’ll follow the group’s adventure from start to finish (however that pans out for you), but that’s not the full picture.
That’s because, as you probably noticed, the group gets split up at several points, and while you’ll follow what one character is doing at all times, the goings on of the others is kinda ignored in Theatrical Cut.
The Curator’s Cut mode is unlocked upon completing one playthrough of Man of Medan’s Theatrical Cut and allows you to experience scenes from a different perspective and with different characters.
It’s essentially the deleted scenes of Man of Medan’s story, but for anyone who enjoyed their first playthrough, this is definitely something worth checking out.
You’ll also find a number of collectibles that can only be found by playing through Curator’s Cut, so if you’re looking to see everything Man of Medan has to offer, you’ll want to check this out.
Get All Endings
It’s no secret that Man of Medan’s narrative is influenced by the decisions you make. Whether it’s what you get one character to say to another, or just how they react to a certain scenario, one error can spell the difference between life and death.
From looking at Man of Medan’s trophy and achievements list, we know that there are at least four different endings that players can uncover. You can kill everyone, have all of the group survive, as well as have all members of just one gender survive while the others die.
That means you’re looking at at least four playthroughs if you want to see everything the game has to offer in terms of narrative.
Keep in mind, though, that the scene selector (unlocked after completing your first playthrough) can be particularly handy for unlocking trophies and changing decisions without having to play through the entire story all over again.
Get All Collectibles
As the group gets embroiled in the whole quest for Manchuria Gold by the fishermen and simply try to make it out alive, you’ll come across a number of documents (known as Secrets), and Pictures.
While Secrets flesh out the lore of Man of Medan, providing additional insight into exactly what happened on the ship, Pictures foretell either positive or negative outcomes of your decisions. Think of Until Dawn’s Totem Poles and you’ve got the right idea.
By collecting all of these, not only will you be officially clued up on everything Man of Medan, but you’ll also unlock a number of trophies and achievements for doing so.
It’s worth keeping in mind, however, that some of these collectibles can only be found in Curator’s Cut, so you’ll definitely need a couple of playthroughs to complete your collection.
Movie Night Mode
Movie Night mode aims to make Man of Medan a truly unique multiplayer experience. With two to five players supported, the mode allows players to each take control of a different character in the group, making decisions for them.
It adds a sense of unpredictability to proceedings, especially if you’re playing with those unfamiliar with the story.
It’s not going to change anything in terms of the actual narrative or gameplay in Man of Medan (outside of the fact you’ll be passing controllers to one another for different characters), but it’s a way to help keep things fresh, and a handy way to grab any remaining trophies or achievements with friends.
Unlock All Trophies & Achievements
By this point, you’ll probably have most of Man of Medan’s trophies or achievements in your collection. However, in case you’re looking to dust the list off and get the platinum trophy, you may still have a couple left.
In particular, things like beating the boxing doll in the market at the very start of the game, or maxing out character relationships or ensuring they have certain traits can take a good bit of time to figure out.
By using the scene selector as we previously mentioned, you can skip to particular moments in the narrative without having to play through that rather slow start all over again.
