4 Things to Do After Beating Resident Evil 3

resident evil 3, things to do after beating

Alright so, real talk here: Resident Evil 3 isn’t a particularly long game. You’re definitely going to beat the single-player campaign in a few play sessions, and once you do, you’re gonna be wondering what you can do next. And that’s where we come in. Here are a few things you can do after beating Resident Evil 3 to keep the zombie scare train going.

Play on Hardcore Difficulty

The first and most obvious thing to do after beating Resident Evil 3 is to play it again, but on a higher difficulty level. If you beat the game on Assisted, play it again on Standard. And if you beat it on Standard, move on up to Hardcore. Now that you have a basic understanding of how the game works and what the pacing is like, you’ll be able to challenge yourself by playing a more difficult version of the same experience.

Especially for longtime fans of the series, Resident Evil 3’s Hardcore difficulty mode offers a pretty good challenge. While you don’t need ink ribbons to save your game like you did in the RE2 remake’s Hardcore mode, the challenge comes from being able to deal with the multitude of zombies in this game, and Nemesis on top of that.

While playing on Hardcore, you’ll receive less ammo with item pickups, and you’ll also receive less when crafting. With how action-oriented RE3 is, not having enough ammo to deal with the zombies will really force you make full use of the quickstep to get around them, or be very strategic in choosing which ones you want to kill or dismember.

Get All the Unlockables

After beating Resident Evil 3,you’ll unlock a brand new shop option in the main menu. By accumulating points from playing and unlocking achievements, you can then spend them to buy items and weapons to bring over to your next playthrough.

The first thing up for sale is Jill’s classic S.T.A.R.S outfit, which is basically a must-have. However, if you’re a bit too daunted by Hardcore and want a bit of a helping hand, you can also purchase coins from the shop that give you health regeneration, increased defense, and increase attack. You can even purchase a book that increases the efficiency of your quickstep.

And if all that isn’t enough, the shop is also where you can unlock the infinite weapons. The infinite handgun can be found here, as well as the iconic Samurai Edge used by the S.T.A.R.S members. There are so many items to be unlocked here, so if you want that 100% completion rate, you’ll need to play this game multiple times.

Go for S Rank

After you’ve already dumped countless hours into repeat playthroughs in your effort to buy everything from the shop, it’s time to go for S rank on Hardcore difficulty.

This is, of course, one of the hardest things to do in the game as you need to beat the campaign in under two hours, and you can only save your game up to five times. Go over any of those requirements, and you’ll only end up with an A rank.

Going for S isn’t necessary at all, of course, but it is one of the hardest things to do in Resident Evil 3, and is certainly a good challenge for anyone who can’t get enough of the game.

Play Resident Evil Resistance

Not to state the obvious, but the single-player campaign of Resident Evil 3 isn’t the only thing you’ll get to play this week. Capcom has also pushed out Resident Evil Resistance, a brand new multiplayer game that’s RE-themed. While past RE multiplayer games haven’t exactly been great, Resident Evil Resistance at least tries to make things a bit more fun.

Taking inspiration from games like Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th, Resistance is a 4v1 multiplayer game where four survivors have to solve puzzles and try to escape a facility, while the mastermind attempts to lay traps for them and keep them inside. From what we’ve played so far, this is a pretty fun mode that comes with a fair selection of characters for both the survivors and mastermind.

You can unlock cosmetics and new weapons by earning RP through quick match completion. While it is possible to just shell out cash for RP to buy items, you don’t have to do that at all, and you can play at your own pace.
