After you’ve beaten Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, there’s still plenty of content to dig into. Here are some things to do after you’ve beaten Dragon Quest XI (both post game and endgame content). If you’re interested in more Dragon Quest XI posts, check out our wiki guide over here!
Keep Going, the Story Isn’t Over
What to Do After Beating Dragon Quest XI (Post Game & Endgame)
By the end of Dragon Quest XI you’ll probably have somewhere in the range of 70-90 hours, nothing to laugh at for sure. You’ve saved the day, brought light to the world, and the credits roll, but things aren’t quite over.
After the credits roll you’ll see the message “to be continued.” At this point all you need to do is load up the save the game has you make afterward and, boom, you’ve got another whole section of the game to play through, in order to get the true ending.
This is more than just an ancillary add-on, however, as this sizable story section can add another 20-40 hours.
We should note too that Dragon Quest XI gets significantly more difficult after its first ending, adding in some seriously tough bosses and enemies.
This is where the real challenge starts, so make sure you’re grinding levels and getting the very best equipment you can.
Mop Up Any Remaining Sidequests
What to Do After Beating Dragon Quest XI (Post Game & Endgame)
Dragon Quest XI sequentially layers in sidequests throughout the game, starting with 25 in the first half and going all the way above 60 by the time you’re working toward the second ending.
There’s a trophy for completing 40 sidequests, so if you’re after trophies you’ll want to complete them anyway, but there’s also some great rewards to get as well.
Later sidequests, especially, will give you powerful weapons and armor as rewards, valuable recipe books that let you craft even more powerful equipment, and useful items like the Pep Pop, which lets you instantly put any party member in a pepped up state.
A few of the very late sidequests even reward you with boosts for certain party member’s stats or abilities, and can be crucial for taking down the true boss.
On top of that, many sidequests have you journeying through areas with boosted enemies or bosses, giving you valuable opportunities for grinding.
If you haven’t bothered with many of the sidequests in Dragon Quest XI, the post game and endgame is the perfect time to mop everything up.
Head to Nautica and Help the Queen, Get the Queen’s Conch
What to Do After Beating Dragon Quest XI (Post Game & Endgame)
While there is more main story added on after Dragon Quest XI’s first ending, there’s even more side content added into the experience.
You’ll get access to a ton more sidequests which you can look at in track in your quest catalog, but there’s also a handful of important objectives that aren’t as obvious to find.
Around the world, mostly in the big towns, you’ll find characters with pink exclamation points over their heads.
These are important people of Erdrea who have equally important tasks for the Luminary to solve, often dealing with a tough boss.
The very first of these people you should seek to help is the Queen of Nautica, the underwater city of mermaids. Speak to the queen and she’ll ask you to defeat a vicious sea creature on an island to the east of Zwaardrust.
Fast travel to Lonalulu and sail up to the top right island that has an anchor on it on your map. When you arrive keep going Northeast and eventually you’ll see a small little island, which isn’t marked on your map.
Head there, beat the boss, then report your achievement back at Nautica.
The Queen will reward you with the Queen’s Conch, which you can use in the menu to get hints on other people that need help across Erdrea.
This can help you track down all rest of the pink exclamation point quests in Dragon Quest XI’s post game.
Go Hunting for Mini Medals
What to Do After Beating Dragon Quest XI (Post Game & Endgame)
Mini Medals are the main collectible to find in Dragon Quest XI, outside of materials for crafting, of course. There are some valuable prizes you can gain by turning these in at L’Academie de Notre, on top of an achievement for filling out three different sheets of rewards.
If you haven’t been exploring a whole lot in Dragon Quest XI, now’s the time to poke around each and every town, smash pots, open cupboards, and find chests.
You can also get Mini Medals from a few different quests in Dragon Quest XI, with two in particular that can net you a big amount.
During the second half of the game you can pick up a quest called A Right Riddle in the library of L’Academie de Notre, that’ll net you five Mini Medals.
You’ll need to solve two riddles by equipping weapons, and you can see the answers here. The second quest can be found after the first ending, in the downtown section of Heliodor, all the way on the left side.
This quest is called Now You See Me and involves hunting down a hide and seek master, but rewards you with a whopping 10 Mini Medals.
Either way you choose to find them, there’s more than enough Mini Medals to fill out three sheets and get the trophy.
There you have it! Some things to do after beating Dragon Quest XI (both post game and endgame content).
Grind Toward that Platinum Trophy
What to Do After Beating Dragon Quest XI (Post Game & Endgame)
Trophy hunting is all the rage these days, and getting the Platinum for a massive game like Dragon Quest XI is almost a badge of honor, of sorts.
A lot of Dragon Quest XI’s trophies area easily gotten simply through completing the story, as well as getting the true ending. A few of those trophies are gonna be a bit trickier to get, however, like collecting all costumes in the game.
With time and diligence, you can mop everything up though. Here are just a few small tips to help you on your way.
For the Chef de Classe de Medailles trophy, which requires you to get three pages of your Mini Medal album, Drustan’s Labyrinth at the end of the game has a lot of chances to gain Mini Medals.
Explore all of the dungeons you visit in Drustan’s Labyrinth and you should find quite a few chests that’ll give you a tidy sum of Mini Medals, enough to fill out those three pages with what you’ve been collecting so far.
For the Till Death Do Us Part trophy you can actually get this through completing one of Drustan’s challenges, which we’ll get to soon.
For the Puff Puff- Buff trophy we actually have a guide to help with that. The Swordsmith of Light trophy has a bit of a trick to it as well, as you’ll need to go to Hotto and talk to the main right outside the item shop on the left side.
Complete his short quest and you’ll get the ability to buy the Sword of Kings, a necessary item for forging the Sword of Light at the Fun Sized Forge.
Just keep plugging away at those trophies in the post game and endgame, and make sure to explore every nook and cranny, and you’ll get the Platinum for Dragon Quest XI eventually.
Complete Drustan’s Challenges and the Wheel of Harma
What to Do After Beating Dragon Quest XI (Post Game & Endgame)
Drustan’s Labyrinth is a late game series of dungeons you’ll visit pretty much right before the True Final Boss of Dragon Quest XI. Making your way through each dungeon will bring you face to face with Drustan the legendary hero, where he’ll provide you with combat challenges.
For these challenges just focus on attacks that cause big damage and can hit all enemies at once, like the hero’s Gigagash.
Completing these challenges will let you choose from a variety of rewards, like a powerful weapon or getting married to Gemma, which will, in turn, lead to the Till Death Do Us Part trophy once you head back to Cobblestone.
What isn’t obvious, however, is that once you’ve completed the three dungeon areas and challenges, you can actually head back through them and get additional challenges, to get additional rewards.
The last challenge can be particularly challenging, though, so you’ll want to make sure you’ve done some leveling and are at least around level 75 before you try to take it on.
Another ultra challenging aspect of Dragon Quest XI’s post game is the Wheel of Harma, combat challenges you can take on at Angri-La.
Once again these challenges are based around defeating enemies in a set amount of turns, but they can throw a wide array of different enemies at you.
Because of this, it’s essential that your characters have the ability to hit all enemies, meaning you’ll want to level them up and use skill points to unlock some of those higher level skills.
Both Drustan’s Labyrinth and The Wheel of Harma are some of the most challenging aspects of Dragon Quest XI’s post game and endgame, so if you’re really looking to dive in deep take them on.
