It can be difficult to find video games that include all types of people and sexualities, but luckily there are some games that let you romance and date members of the same sex. Here are 10 video games where you can be gay, lesbian, and homosexual.
Life Is Strange
When she’s not dealing with her newfound rewind and fast-forward powers in Life is Strange, you will find our protagonist, Max Caulfield, exploring her sexuality with none other than her best friend, Chloe Price.
There are moments in this narrative-based adventure game where you have the option to have Max kiss her friend Chloe and she will return the favor happily.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm and Life is Strange 2 also tackles the idea of characters being gay or just figuring out what kind of people they are attracted to, but the series never actually uses the term “gay.”
It’s actually quite nice to see the developers letting players choose how they want to pursue romantic relationships without putting labels on everything.
But if you are interested in making out with several characters in a video game, Life is Strange is where it’s at.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Where’s the fun in exploring Ancient Greece if you can’t romance everybody that you meet? No matter which of the two main characters you start your journey with, Alexios and Kassandra can have a lot of fun with a few of the NPC’s that tickle your fancy.
Ubisoft lets you be whoever you want to be in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and if you want to bang all of the dudes in Greece with Alexios, then let your freak flag fly.
Being able to explore your sexual identity in a virtual space is amazing and what better way to do it than in the newest Assassin’s Creed game. Flirting and romancing NPC’s has never been this much fun.
Fire Emblem Fates
Nintendo-developed titles tend to stay away from hot topics such as the inclusion of LGBT characters, but Fire Emblem Fates actually allows you to marry characters of the same sex.
There aren’t a ton of romancing options for same-sex characters, but the feature is there for you to try out.
The only bad thing about the whole being gay thing in Fire Emblem Fates is that you have to own both versions of the game if you want to explore all of your options.
Fire Emblem Conquest allows you to have a male/male marriage and Fire Emblem Birthright has female/female marriage. So if you want access to all of the gay options here, then you’re going to have to cough up some dough.
Regardless, let’s give props to Nintendo for at least getting their feet wet when it comes to including all types of people into their games.
Mass Effect Series
The Mass Effect series is usually highly regarded for its narrative, romance options, and decision-making that can truly change your experience with the sci-fi RPG.
At the beginning of Mass Effect, you have the option to choose between playing as male Shepard or female Shepard, but it doesn’t change anything about the game besides the visual appearance of your character.
Regardless of which version of Shep you choose, you can pretty much date and mess around with a bunch of other characters, no matter if they’re female, male, or some weird alien species –we don’t judge people in space.
Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator
Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator is exactly what it sounds like.
Playing as a single gay father in a new city, you get the opportunity to go on dates with other gay dads in the area who all have their own traits and personalities that make them different from one another.
You can flirt with the rocker dad down the street, or go on a cute coffee date with the rugged man named Robert.
There are 7 dateable dads for you to hang out with and you can also customize the look of your own character, placing a piece of yourself into them.
The Sims 4
The Sims series has always been pretty good at letting players date the members of the opposite sex, but especially in The Sims 4. You can marry your partner, adopt kids, and pretty much do everything that straight couples can do.
In the first Sims game, you weren’t able to marry your same-sex partner, but EA went out of their way to make sure that everyone is included once Sims 2 came around.
From just looking at the image above for best sims mods, the developers want you to be proud of your sexuality in the game and in real life. The Sims is the perfect game to live out your best life and love whoever you want to love.
Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley may seem like just a simple farming game from first looks, but there is so much more content here that you might not even know about, stuff like marriage… stuff like gay marriage.
In your farm town of Stardew, there are 6 male and 6 female characters that are single and ready to mingle. You can choose to date or marry any of these characters, regardless of your character’s gender.
Once you end up marrying someone, they will then move in with you and help out with chores on the fun, and you can also expect some cheeky dialogue and lots of kisses.
Fallout 4
In a post-apocalyptic setting, how else do you pass the time besides romancing NPC’s and awkwardly flirting with people to get them in bed?
Bethesda lets the main character romance a couple of different characters in Fallout 4 and also “date” multiple people at the same time.
You can’t marry people or form actual monogamous relationships with anyone, but you can still have plenty of fun messing around with folks like Preston and MacCready.
The only strange thing is that the beginning of the game automatically places you in a marriage with a member of the opposite sex.
But that doesn’t last long as an impending nuclear attack results in the main character getting frozen and woken up sometime after to avenge their spouse’s death.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
BioWare and EA’s Dragon Age series has always been pretty good at letting players romance NPC’s of the opposite sex, but in Dragon Age: Inquisition, there are eight characters that can be romanced.
There are some limitations though, as there were two characters that were restricted by both gender and race, meaning that you couldn’t romance them unless you fit the specified criteria.
Either way, having the option to play around with a couple of the characters in the game was a great distraction in this deep action role-playing game.
My Time At Portia
My Time At Portia is all about restoring an abandoned workshop to its former glory by growing crops, taking on jobs, and also romancing your fellow eligible bachelors and bachelorettes.
You can date any of the single non-playable characters in My Time At Portia regardless of sex and race. As long as the NPC isn’t married, elderly, or a child, you’re free to eventually marry whoever you please.
You can only go on one date per day, but you are allowed to date multiple people at once, but be careful. Some of the NPC’s will get jealous if they see you hanging out with another townsperson, and trust us, you don’t want that drama in your farming life.
