New Animals

mods

This fun new mod starts out the list of the best of the best of mods to release for Stardew Valley in June 2019, and it’s well deserved as it grants a ton of new animals that can be purchased at Marnie’s store.

The new animals include deer which can be milked every three days, buffalo which can be milked every day, moles which lay mixed seeds, peacocks which drop peacock feathers (a universal love gift), and silkworms which produce silk cotton every six days.

The items with the new animals also function with a set of new machines, which are featured in another mod that made this list further down offering a new area behind the Bus Stop with a boarding house, shop, and mine area.

Reimagined Stardew Valley

mods

This massive mod is a total overhaul of all the outdoors areas in Stardew Valley, offering a full visual upgrade to virtually every area of the map.

More details are added to outside areas, with new paths also being created to make it more accessible. It’s sure to make your game of Stardew Valley feel fresh and new again, since this mod feels like it’s an update from Chucklefish itself.

As one could see from the exampled photo above, just this one location alone has a ton more plants, two new pathways, and a bunch of smaller details like benches and tiny wooden signs to make the world feel more lived in.

Mega Storage

mod

This mod adds new chests to the game that holds a ton more items to make managing your farm all the easier in Stardew Valley.

The new items include both Large Chests and Magic Chests, with Large Chests having double the capacity of normal chests and Magic Chests having infinite room. That’s right, infinite!

If you don’t mind having to scroll to find everything, you could essentially keep every single one of your items in one Magic Chest. Talk about space saving.

HD Stardew Valley Sprites

mod

This mod replaces the in-game textures to give them a much smoother appearance. At twice the resolution, all the sprites now look much more HD compared to the original base game.

The Nexus Mod page reads, “Every texture was run through an image resizing program that uses an up-scaling algorithm called 2xBR to not only quadruple the number of pixels in the texture, but also to give it that smooth, vectorized look.”

Since PCs can run the game with higher resolution, why not run this mod to make the game look better? It’s a must download for any new or veteran player.

Spacious Greenhouse

stardew valley

Bored in the winter months? Want more room in your greenhouse for better crops? This mod was created just for you.

The new and much more spacious greenhouse granted in this mod has room for six iridium sprinklers, and also changes the back wall into a glass wall for a more authentic greenhouse vibe. The view from the glass window will also change depending on the season.

A version is also available that offers a cellar in the basement of the greenhouse as well, but the mod page warns caskets will not actually work in it.

Boarding House and Bus Stop Extension

stardew valley

This mod adds a location behind the Bus Stop that contains a beautiful new boarding house, new mine location, and a shop to buy customized machines.

The boarding house has nothing in it yet, but could be a great set-up for modders making new NPC characters. They could use this location as the home for any new NPC, and furnish it to match their personality. It’s has six empty rooms in total.

The Buffalo Ranch shop will sell the machines from the aforementioned mod featuring a collection of New Animals. The new machines include:

  • Deluxe Cheese Press: Turns milk and goat milk into different types of cheese. Also works with deer and buffalo milk from the new animals mod.
  • Deluxe Loom: Can turn cotton balls into better kinds of cloth.
  • Bug Trap: Attracts bugs and locks them inside for a steady source of bug meat.
  • Recovery Machine: Turns raccoon’s lot into random items.

The new mine in this area also features no monsters. So if you wanted to scavenge but didn’t feel like fighting, you will have a new area to do so in. Its hinted there is a surprise waiting at the end of it.

Marriage Perks

Since so many of the NPCs in Stardew Valley also have family and close friends living in Pelican Bay, you would think marrying any one of them might improve your relationship with other close persons in their life.

This mod opens up some new dynamics, so you get special perks from marrying certain NPCs depending on their close relationships to other NPCs.

The NPC perks are listed as:

  • Abigail: Slime eggs are 25% more valuable, solar and void essence are twice as valuable, and combat items recipes have decreased requirements.
  • Alex: Food buffs will be twice as strong and last twice as long.
  • Elliott: Easier recipes for tackles, more efficient when crafting baits, and crab pot and beach forage-able items worth 50% more.
  • Emily: Gems and minerals are 50% more valuable.
  • Haley: Values from flowers and fruits from trees are increased by 50%.
  • Harvey: Cooked dishes heal and regenerate 50% more stamina, life elixir no longer requires purple mushroom. New crafting recipes: Energy Tonic and Muscle Remedy
  • Leah: Wood, stone, and hardwood requirements are reduced by 50% when crafting. Crafting fences, floors, fertilizers, and ancient seeds will produce twice.
  • Maru: New crafting recipes: Transmute (Ir) and Battery Packs, machine requirements have been reduced (either the number of bars or the type of bars).
  • Penny: Artifacts are twice as valuable.
  • Sam: New crafting recipe: Soda Machine, receive a random gift through mail from Sam’s fans every week.
  • Sebastian: Gold cost for buildings reduced in 25%.
  • Shane: Increased 25% value of animal goods and artisan goods produced with them (Truffles not included).

There are even perks for some popular custom NPC mods made by the Stardew Valley community.

Toned Down Stardew Valley

mods, stardew valley

If having a reimagined Stardew Valley isn’t your thing, then maybe you would prefer a new mod that tones down the overworld of Pelican Bay.

The main change implemented is the entire game is overhauled to include less saturated colors. The game will therefore run with a much more neutral palate.

A very specific change, but it proved to be a popular mod out last month with almost three thousand downloads at the time of writing after releasing on June 13.

Farming Made Easy

stardew valley

This mod speeds up the process of farming in Stardew Valley in a few different ways.

Not only do your crops grow more quickly just in general, you can also now grow any crop in any season (except Winter), and any crop can regrow just like the regenerating crops like Strawberries or Blueberries do. That way, you won’t have to replant anything to keep it growing in the same location.

It’s a great mod if you want to streamline the farming process to focus on other things like relationship building or mining. It would also be a great download if you had a young child playing Stardew Valley, and you wanted to make the gameplay a little easier for them.

It’s worth noting though that these changes only work on crops you plant after installing the mod. Existing crops would have to be dug up and replanted in order to be affected.

Original NPC Sorren

stardew valley

This mod adds a whole new NPC character to Stardew Valley named Sorren, a miner who is also available as a bachelor to marry.

The Nexus Mod page reads, “Sorren is a little grumpy and shy at first, but once you get to know him, you’ll see he’s really just a big teddy bear. Find out what brought this almost-middle-aged miner to Stardew Valley and what secrets are hidden beneath his gruff exterior by befriending him and maybe even marrying him.”

If you do decide to marry Sorren, he comes with his own decorated spouse room just like the basegame NPC spouses.

Sorren shows up in-game on the fifth day of Spring within the Saloon, one day after the landslide unblocks the mines.
