XSEED Games has announced that they will be localizing the standalone AKIBA’S TRIP 2 for western gamers under the new title, AKIBA’S TRIP: Undead & Undressed.
AKIBA’S TRIP takes place in the famous electronic district of Tokyo known as Akihabara (Akiba for short) which is fully modeled in this game. Here, a horde of vampire-like creatures known as “Synthesizers” feed on the otaku denizens of Akihabara and the only way to stop them is to expose them to direct sunlight. So those clothes have got to go.
The protagonist, Nanashi, is a fortunate individual who despite turning into a Synthesizer, managed to retain his sanity thanks to the kiss of a Synthesizer hunter named Shizuku. Now, along with his teammates, the “Akiba Freedom Fighters,” it’s up to him to rid of all these vampire monsters who prey on the people’s energy to socialize.
The game was apparently very well received in Japan, even winning Famitsu’s Gold Award. So I guess there’s an actual game underneath those thin garments (That was supposed to be a clothes pun but I don’t think I landed it. 6/10).
I’m sort of curious about the game only because Yami and I visited Akihabara on our trip to TGS. What we found may haunt me forever, but it was a unique experience for sure.
AKIBA’S TRIP: Undead & Undressed will release for PS3 and PS Vita systems this summer in North America.
