Uncharted 4 is currently in development by naughty Dog, and at last year’s E3, the developers said they hope to get the game running at 60fps. However, at yesterday’s extended E3 demo stream of Uncharted 4 in action, co-lead designer Anthony Newman revealed that this has not been achieved and that Uncharted 4 will run at 30fps in the single player story.
It’s a shame, but Newman said that the framerate has to be cut so Uncharted 4 could be “the game we wanted to make, to make the best game possible.” He then added: “To me, a locked 30 is better than a variable 60.”
Many fans will be disappointed to read this news given that if any studio could pull off 60fps, it would be Naughty Dog. The Last of Us: Remastered was released earlier this year and ran at 1080p/60fps but it seems getting 60fps for Uncharted 4 is too much.
It’s worth noting that Newman stated that Naughty Dog still intends to try and hit 60fps when it comes to the online multiplayer of Uncharted 4, so here’s hoping that’s achieved.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is due to be released early next year and will be the final chapter in the adventures of Nathan Drake.
