An eagle eye NeoGAF user called ekim has revealed that the Pokemon Company has trademarked Pokken Tournament in Europe.
Pokemon Company actually trademarked Pokken Tournament two days ago and at the time of writing, the application is “under examination.” The application sadly doesn’t mention whether it’s for the arcade game or a possible Wii U/NX port.
Something interesting to note however is that under the heading of “Goods and services” the application mentions:
Near field communication (NFC) technology-enabled devices, namely, key chain tags, key chains, key fobs, key tags, key rings and key holders, and figurines, to facilitate the transmission and recording and exchange of video game content.
The NFC technology mentioned here most likely refers to the BANNA cards that the Pokken Tournament arcade machines use in Japan so users can transfer their save games and data between machines. You can check out the application for yourself here.
Pokken Tournament currently has nine playable fighters, with more due to come in future updates. These nine Pokemon are Lucario, Machamp, Suicune, Gardevoir, Pikachu, Gengar, Weavile, Charizard, and Blaziken.
