Parody Music Video Becomes an Empathetic Anthem for All P.T. And Silent Hills Fans

'Cause now it's just a Silent Hill I'll never know.

It has since been over five weeks ago when the tragic news broke that Silent Hills had been officially cancelled by Konami. This was coupled with a horrible salt-and-scorch-the-earth manner in which Konami and Hideo Kojima parted ways including his name and production credits being removed from promotional material related to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain,Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection.

To make matters worse, the horribly frightening masterpiece that was the P.T. demo was removed from the PlayStation Store and could not be re-downloaded by players. Players scrambled to download P.T. before it disappeared forever on April 29th. Would-be entrepreneurs attempted to download and resell PS4s with the game pre-installed; however, eBay stepped in and put a stop to transactions from further occurring.

Thanks Konami – this is why we can’t have nice things.

5 weeks on and it still hurts. And yet, the insult to injuries still seem to come and go as they please. Most recently, gamers were treated to yet another bout of disappointment in which rumors & speculations of Microsoft acquiring Silent Hills in order to revive & release it on the Xbox One were debunked. It was further revealed that Phil Spencer, chief executive of Xbox, that Microsoft had no intentions of purchasing the rights to the Silent Hill franchise from Konami.

Fortunately, there is a wonderful gamer and enthusiast out there by the name of Kalathra that posted this wonderful parody music video for a song she wrote called “Silent Hill I’ll Never Know” that gives voice to all the pain and woes we have ever felt as a play through of P.T. goes on. Kalathra and her new anthem really gets us. Even better – it is written and performed to the tune of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” with ingenious lyrics such as: “Then Konami went and truly screwed us over”, “Konami, what are you even doing?” , and “Konami, what the hell though?”

Thank you, Kalathra for giving us this sweet and heartfelt song to help us cope with the loss of Silent Hills and P.T. Go ahead and share this with a friend or play it on infinite loop – trust me, you’ll feel a bit better knowing that you stand in solidarity with her and thousands of other gamers who feel exactly as you do right now.

What did you think of this Silent Hills and P.T. musical parody and homage? Feel free to share and comment below! You can find out more about Kalathra, her video game commentary, and other work on her YouTube channel, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Google+, and her Patreon page.
