Nintendo Announces New Details for Yoshi's Wooly World

Yoshi is arriving in his cutest form on Wii U.

Nintendo announced in today’s Nintendo Direct that we’ll be seeing Yoshi in his wooly form in Fall 2015. That wasn’t all, we’re getting two new game modes and some amiibo with a twist!

Nintendo also gave us some details on the two different game modes within Yoshi’s Wooly World. “Mellow mode” provides players with unlimited access to winged Yoshi, opening the game up to those new to the Yoshi series or just fancy experiencing the game with less of a challenge. Classic mode will retain the challenging gameplay that we’ve all come to love from the Yoshi series.

What’s better is you can switch between the two different game modes during play meaning, if you just can’t get over that one darn jump. Switch into “Mellow mode” and fly your way across, then switch back to bring back the challenge. I heard this is going to be in the new Dark Souls game too…. HA!

But wait, there’s more! Nintendo will be releasing a special amiibo series made out of yarn that will be released alongside the game. When you tap these wooly characters onto the Wii U gamepad, your playable Yoshi will have an in-game companion. This means that even if you’re playing by yourself you’ll still get all the enjoyment and benefits of playing multiplayer. The Yoshi wooly amiibo will be available in green, blue and pink. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.

What’s your opinion on all this? Are you a Yoshi fan? Will the wooly amiibo be the first you grab of the collectible toys? Let us know in the comments below.
