After announcing Monster Hunter X over the weekend, the latest issue of Famitsu has shared some details about what hunters should expect in the next 3DS Monster Hunter title.
For starters, Monster Hunter X will feature all 14 weapon classes. This means that hunters will be able to choose from Great Sword, Long Sword, Sword and Shield, Dual Blades, Lance, Gunlance, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Insect Glaive, Bow, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun.
On top of that, each of these weapon classes will have 4 hunting techniques. These hunting techniques are an attack action that hunters will have to choose from. Here are four examples:
- Light Bowgun x Hunting Style 1: Shoot from high above the monster.
- Sword and Shield x Hunting Style 2: The blade changes and has added effects.
- Great Sword x Hunting Style 3: A powerful Hunting Technique causes an explosion. Specializes in Hunting Techniques.
- Dual Blades x Hunting Style 4: Dodge danger, like fire breath of Rathalos, and counter attack.
According to the Famitsu article, Monster Hunter X will include the four main monster types. These monster types are the:
- Brute Wyvern
- Flying Wyvern
- Leviathan
- Fanged Beast.
In the article which was translated by Nintendo Everything, Capcom also revealed that players will be able to revisit villages from the previous games such as Yukumo Village from Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, Pokke Village from Monster Hunter Freedom 2, and Kokoto Village from the first ever game. Despite this, the main game will take place in Verna Village where players will receive quests and make/upgrade their weapons and armor.
Monster Hunter X will be released in Japan this winter, but sadly there’s been no Western release date announced yet. Famitsu also revealed that Monster Hunter X is 60% finished.
