Mii App Headed to Smartphones and Tablets

Nintendo is aiming for the mobile market with their upcoming Mii app.

Nintendo CEO and President Satoru Iwata recently revealed the company’s intentions to release a Mii app for smartphones and tablets in an interview with Japanese Website, Nikkei.

Iwata expressed his concerns with releasing Nintendo content on mobile devices throughout the interview: “In the past, I have opposed making smartphone and tablet versions of Nintendo titles. Prices for content aimed at smartphones and tablets are falling quickly. I am still wary of the category.” He went on to mention Nintendo’s interest in creating an app that caters more to the social aspects of Miis and how people use them to represent themselves “It would be fun for players to use their Mii characters as icons on social media. We are currently developing an application that will allow users to do that. The app will be announced around the time our full-year results are released.”

So it looks like we can expect the official announcement for the Mii app and more details sometime at the end of Nintendo’s fiscal year, which runs through March.
