Today Konami announced its plans for the upcoming European gaming convention Gamescom, confirming that it will be bringing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phanton Pain to the show.
This is particularly significant because this will be the first time that the game will be playable to the public, the pressure is on Konami. Metal Gear Solid V won’t be the only game Konami will be bringing for the public to play at Gamescom. Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, Konami’s rival to EA’s Fifa series will also be playable publicly for the first time at the convention.
Konami general manager Martin Schneider voiced how significant he believed Gamescom to be stating that “Gamescom represented the most important consumer exhibition in the world.”
Gamescom is a huge conference in Cologne, Germany, and is scheduled to take place this year between August 5-9. Last year, more than 335,000 people attended and got their hands on the hottest latest and upcoming games.
The release of the game will seemingly mark the end of Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima’s time at Konami following rumors of a bit of a bust-up within the company. Will Metal Gear Solid V be the swansong that the series needs to mark its end? Only time will tell.
