Along with releasing a new trailer, over on the Dynasty Warriors website the series producer Akihiro Suzuki said:

“As we meet the 15th anniversary this year, a new project in the Dynasty Warriors series has begun. We’re still preparing to be able to deliver information to everyone, so please wait for a bit now.”

Also on the website you can download wallpapers of some of Dynasty Warriors most popular characters such as Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun, Lu Bu and Zhao Yun.

The Dynasty Warriors series started off as a PS1 fighting game back in 1997, but it wouldn’t be until 2000 that the series would make the jump to the PS2 and into the hack-and-slash genre. Since then, the Dynasty Warriors series has become popular with gamers due to its camp atmosphere, awesome soundtrack and insane opening cutscenes. Oh and there’s also the whole slicing your way through the enemy ranks like a hot knife through butter as generals from the Three Kingdom era.

Since jumping to the hack-and-slash genre, Dynasty Warriors has seen an insane number of spin-offs such as the Dynasty Warriors Empire series, and Dynasty Warriors: Gundam series.

So with Dynasty Warriors 15th birthday in mind, what’s your favourite thing about this insane franchise? Let us know in the comments below.
