For anyone that still owns an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, you may have some trouble when you get the upcoming Taken King expansion for Destiny. Bungie’s gone and declared that anyone who plays on those systems could have to upgrade to make sure it works properly. The Taken King expansion takes up at least 10 GB of free space on the 360, while PS3 owners will have about 20 GB of free space needed during installation, along with another 10 GB for the required update after installation. Before Taken King releases, there’ll be a “major” update on September 8 that all Destiny players will HAVE to download to continue playing the game, expansion bought or no.
If you’ve got a PS3 or 360 with 20 GB, you’re advised to upgrade your hard drives. Failing that, you could upgrade your console. Destiny lets players transfer their gear, characters, and progress to a new console, but only in that same console family. So if you’re a 360 player, you could transfer your data over to an Xbox One version if you bought an Xbone, and ditto PS3 to PS4. You’ll still have to buy Destiny, but since Taken King is being bundled with the base game and its previous two expansions, it’s not too much of a hassle.
Destiny: The Taken King hits on September 15.
