Halo 5: Guardians is Rated T for Teen

Rated T for Time to quit begging your mom to buy it for you!

The Halo games have always been rated M by the ESRB, but it’s always been puzzling as to why. There’s nothing about them that really ever warranted that rating when compared to say, Gears of War or Grand Theft Auto. It isn’t like people are having sex, and limbs don’t get hacked off, so nothing about the series has really screamed “mature”. If you were teenager under 17 and couldn’t convince your parents to buy you a Halo game, you were SOL. But no more!

For the second time in the series’ history (Halo Wars was rated T), Halo 5: Guardians will be rated T by the ESRB. According to the ratings summary, the game contains “realistic gunfire, explosions, and occasional blood-splatter effects”, along with a taunt about your mother being “a hole in the wall”. Weird. Either way, this is good news for all those high pitched 12 year olds shouting racist epithets. Or maybe ‘good’ is the wrong word to use.

Halo 5 hits the Xbox One on October 27.
