Dragon Age Origins: The 9 Best Gameplay Mods for Your Next Playthrough

Need a reason to play through Dragon Age: Origins again? Here's a boat-load.

No Helmet

Recommended Videos

Ever get sick of being forced to wear a helmet? Some scalps are just too beautiful to cover, after all. Well, this mod makes your helm invisible, so you can let your locks flow free while still benefitting from helm stats.

Advanced Tactics

Dragon Age: Origins’ game play focused heavily on the use of squad based tactics, but many felt that the tactics themselves were too simple. When your lives depend on every programmed move, you’re gonna want a little more strategic leeway. Advanced Tactics is the answer for the prepared Warden.

  More Hairstyles

Want to make your character more unique this play through? Look no further, a new hair style should help you feel fresh and confident. Or you could go bald. That too.

Expanded Inventory

Dragon Age Inventory Mod

In Dragon Age: Origins, you start off with an inventory size of 70, and can later purchase backpacks to increase inventory size by 10 each. With the Expanded Inventory mod, you begin with the maximum inventory size of 125 (and further backpacks won’t increase your inventory).

You should be able to carry all the things. Mods can fix that.

Auto Loot

Alas, there is a god. Every game could use an auto loot system. Why shouldn’t you be able to frantically lift all items from the floor simultaneously, like a telepathic, crazed packrat?

Polygamy

Dragon Age Origins Brothel

Sometimes the life of a Grey Warden is too short to live in monogamy, so naturally someone made a mod for it.

This mod “Should prevent followers from confronting the player about cheating… allow threesome/foursome even if followers have not been ‘hardened’… prevent negative confrontations if you choose to get married… Works by turning other active romances off temporarily during conversations with companions.”

 Extra Dog Slot

Never miss out on any canine interaction with this wonderful mod. Never again feel the sting of betrayal that comes with benching an old pooch for companions that can… well, talk.

Skip the Fade

Dragon Age Origins skip The Fade mod

Dragon Age: Origins had one glowing frustration: The Fade in the tower quest line. If you’ve ever had the burning urge to skip this endless labyrinth, help has arrived.

Lock Bash

There’s nothing more infuriating than a stubborn lock. Instead of training for years to become an expert lock picking master, you could just grab the Lock Bash mod and add lock smashing to your list of skills.

According to the description, “The gameplay change can be balanced by a chance to ‘break’ items or ‘lose them in the rubble’.”

Additionally, each class will have an attribute that adds to their bashing skill (Magic for Wizards, Strength for Warriors, and Dexterity for Rogues).
