Bungie and Activision announced today that Destiny: The Taken King has broken the record for most downloaded day-one game in PlayStation’s history, as well as a whole new day-one milestone for total players and players online at one time. Eric Hirshberg, the CEO of Activision had this to say:
“Destiny: The Taken King is officially the most downloaded game on day-one in PlayStation history and set a new benchmark for both total Destiny players and peak online concurrency on day-one, so it’s safe to say the Destiny franchise continues to gain momentum. Along with our talented partners at Bungie, we cannot wait to watch the community continue to grow and tackle the King’s Fall Raid kicking off on Friday.”
The Taken King is the latest, large expansion for Destiny that added three new subclasses, a whole storyline, a slew of missions, strikes, a raid, and crucible playlists. It comes included in a $59.99 Legendary Edition that’s very welcoming for new players as it also includes the original Destiny and the two previous expansions: House of Wolves and The Dark Below. The Taken King can be bought by itself as well for $39.99 and includes a consumable to instantly boost your character’s level to 25. Players can enjoy Destiny: The Taken King on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One right now.
