Darksiders May Be Coming Back in a Big Way

The Horsemen may soon ride again.

Since THQ’s closure in 2013, fans of the apocalyptic action franchise Darksiders have been wondering if more games would ever see the light of day. Nordic Games bought the franchise and didn’t do much with it until the leak of Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition earlier this year. The second game in the series will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One in the winter, with better graphics, better loot distribution, gameplay balancing, and all the DLC from the game. The remaster is being handled by Gunfire Games, which is made up of members from the Vigil Games team that worked on the first two Darksiders games, most notably David Adams, who co-founded Vigil Games. But is this the end of the series? It looks like it may not be, if Nordic’s business and product development director Reinhard Pollice has anything to say about it:

“We took over the franchise roughly two years ago and thought about the next chapter for Darksiders ever since then. Naturally (and extremely excitedly!), there will be a large-scale project based on Darksiders, but for now it is very important for us to take care of the existing games and make those available to a broader audience.”

“Since Darksiders is an active project for us we are obviously making up our minds about it. So far we have nothing to tell the world about though.”

“Making those games available to a broader audience” could possibly mean the first game is getting a remaster as well, but Nordic didn’t fully commit to that answer. For now, it looks like the second game is taking priority, and whatever else is up in the air. But Nordic, if you need some ideas for Darksiders 3, maybe take a look at some of our suggestions, eh?
