With the recent release of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Punch-Out, and Metroid Prime Trilogy, Nintendo has been on a hot streak. They’re giving gamers more of what they want, at prices that aren’t ludicrous.  But what lies ahead? Here’s a few games we hope all make it to the Wii U as a $9.99 download on the eShop.

5. Pikmin/Pikmin 2

The always cute and delightful Pikmin belong on the Wii U

This seems like an obvious choice for Nintendo, although that has certainly never stopped them in the past. Pikmin and Pikmin 2 technically came out on the Gamecube, but saw a Wii rerelease with updated motion controls. These games, now considered decent collector’s items, are a pain and a half to track down, just like the Metroid Prime Trilogy. This perfect storm of hard-to-find and excellent gameplay begs for a digital re-release on the eShop.

4. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword

Zelda fans deserve the chance to own every Zelda game on one console

Another obvious choice for Nintendo. Digital re-release of these titles on the eShop would see more revenue come their way. In addition to that, players would get a chance to really track the evolution of the Wiimote motion functionality from the basic, wave to swing sword controls in Twilight Princess, to the precision controls presented in Skyward Sword. Plus, a digital re-release on the Wii U would actually give players and fans of the franchise the opportunity to collect all of the Zelda games on one console – for the first time ever.

3. Super Paper Mario

Look at it! Isn’t it so pretty?

While Super Paper Mario didn’t get the love that other entries in the Paper Mario franchise did, it was still an undoubtedly good game. No, really! Its blend of traditional side-scrolling Mario with the Paper Mario-lite RPG elements proved to be one of the most experimental things Nintendo has done in quite awhile. In addition to the fun gameplay, Super Paper Mario featured some of the funniest writing in the franchise, another breath of fresh air for the typical silent affair of most Mario games. At $9.99 on the eShop, this purchase would be a no-brainer.

2. Kirby’s Epic Yarn

Stringing together a digital release would tie up Nintendo’s loose ends.

Few things in the past few years have managed to put a smile on gamers’ faces, and Kirby’s Epic Yarn is one of them. Ridiculous title aside, this entry in the Kirby franchise remains as one of the most charming and delightful games of all time. With the upcoming release of Yoshi’s Wooly World, a re-release of Epic Yarn would help to build the hype for the wooly game.

1. Xenoblade Chronicles

For being standard definition, this game is beautiful

We’ve quickly left the realm of reality and entered a world of fantasy, where dreams do come true. Sadly, this Wii U port would probably never happen, considering Nintendo is releasing Xenoblade Chronicles on the New 3DS. A re-release of this excellent original may hurt the limelight of the 3DS release and the price of a new physical copy of the game, but it may do the opposite. It may serve as something to build the hype-machine to incentivize players actually buy a New 3DS. Having never played Xenoblade Chronicles, a Wii U re-release would garner a purchase in a heartbeat.
