Here’s Every New Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2018 Skin Ranked from Worst to Best
Let’s get this clear right out of the gate: none of these are bad. There are just some that are better than others. Ashe’s Winter skin is the worst skin of the 2018 Winter Wonderland Overwatch event. Does it look great? Sure. Does it fit the theme? Absolutely, but at the end of the day, it’s just a palette swap. There’s some extra flair, like the winter boots, but at it’s core, it’s just a cool blue and white version of her base skin.
To be brutally honest, Zarya’s skins are the worst in the game overall. They’re often. cringy, basic and never too exciting. This Snowboarder skin falls right in line with that. The snow bear hat is a cute touch, but the rest of the outfit is nothing special —iIt’s literally a snowboarding outfit. Maybe one day I’ll be impressed with something Blizzard cooks up for Zarya, but today is not that day.
Widowmaker’s skins are hit or miss. Sometimes they ooze the badassery that every Overwatch player knows Widowmaker is all about. Other times, they’re just lackluster. Biathlon sadly falls into the latter. The idea is cool — Biathlon is a sport that combines skiing and rifle shooting — but it doesn’t look cool. It’s almost as bad as Zarya’s Snowboarder outfit, except it’s Widowmaker so it gets a few bonus points that help it edge out eighth place.
Lucio’s Snow Fox skin is significantly better than Zarya’s Snowboarder skin and
Widowmaker’s Biathlon one, but it’s still a winter sports-looking skin, and those just don’t pop as much as something like Zenyatta’s Nutcracker. While Snow Fox does stand out more, courtesy of the vibrant visor and skate combo, it still falls to the wayside compared to some of the other skins available this Winter Wonderland.
Ahhhh, Bastion. Is there a Bastion skin that doesn’t look great? Not only does Bastion’s Gift Wrap look awesome (and extremely fitting), it marks the start of the Winter Wonderland 2018 skins that players should be hopeful for. Bastion is boxy and can even transform to a turret, which is even more boxy looking, so the idea to wrap him up in holiday gift wrap was a no-brainer.
There is nothing more enjoyable than seeing our iron-clad man taking part in the holiday fun and Reinhardt’s Festive makes that happen. It’s a timeless-skin, featuring holiday gold, red and green, and it’s wrapped up in a perfect little bow (quite literally) that holds two bells in place.
Stunning. Gorgeous. Sleek. Fashion-forward. Symmetra’s Figure Skater skin is everything right about Overwatch skins.
Before this was made, the idea of a Mercy dressed as a Sugar Plum Fairy never crossed my mind, but now, after seeing it in action, how in the hell did it take this long for Blizzard to do this? Mercy’s Sugar Plum Fairy is perfection. It’s fitting of Mercy, colorful and easily one of her best skins. Bravo, Overwatch.
Time and time again, Blizzard knocks it out of the park with Junkrat. It might be his design, it might be his personality — it could be anything. Regardless, it seems that Junkrat was inherently made for Overwatch’s best skins. Junkrat’s Krampus is colorful, perfectly fitting to him as a character and straight up Christmas. At first glance, a player might think it’s jolly ole Santa after them, but a closer inspection reveals it’s the terrifyingly deadly Krampus.
