How Call of Duty’s Graphics Have Changed Since 2003
Call of Duty is one of the most well-known and divisive series among the gaming community. Starting out back in 2003, this franchise has spanned a number of games that range from just okay to near masterpieces of the genre. It’s multiplayer is one of the most popular of the modern era, which helped lay the groundwork for other twitch based shooters released. Now it’s time to look back and see how the graphics have changed since its original release.
Call of Duty is a unique series as not many big Triple A titles have been so consistent with delivering titles every year. This makes it easy to observe the graphical changes over the years, which is something that is normally impossible as other studios sometimes take years between each of their titles’ releases.
Even though this series has been developed my multiple studios, it’s interesting to look at how the graphics have branched out since its conception in 2003. What’s interesting is how much certain titles look alike from one another and only with recent entries really feeling like next generation titles. That being said, we can only hope that the next title down the road won’t be from the future, but a blast from the past.
