Xbox One

Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

The envy of every Halo fan, this custom designed Xbox One is accentuated by its heavy use of metallic grey and black colors, as well as the military UNSC insignia on it’s body. It  was made available following the release of Halo 5: Guardians, and came bundled with both a Spartan themed Steel Book containing a digital download of Halo 5: Guardians, and most importantly, the Xbox One Limited Edition Spartan Locke Wireless Controller.

Titanfall Limited Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

This gorgeous Xbox One was sadly not made available to the mass market, and was in fact specifically made by Microsoft for the folks over at Respawn Entertainment. It was never put up for sale anywhere, and the only way the public even found out about it was through employees tweeting out pictures of their new consoles. The body features a mix of grey and neon orange, on a base of white and black. Both the console and the controller feature the game’s companion logo, with the console bearing the larger of the two on its grill.

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare Special Edition Console

In an effort to promote the release of 2014’s Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, publisher EA teamed up with Frito-Lay and Target to bring this limited edition Xbox to 15 lucky winners. Each of these 15 consoles were decorated with custom Garden Warfare artwork, featuring graphics of the character’s heads on both the controller and the Xbox, with a giant image of a Chomper on the main body. It’s not the prettiest looking console, but at least it has character.

Limited Edition Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

This limited edition Xbox One was made available as part of a promotional bundle for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. It features the use of dark militaristic colors reminiscent of the futuristic exoskeletons and weaponry that the game is well known for. Both the console and the controller themselves are covered in visual imagery of the Sentinel Task Force, a faction in the game, and the main goal was to make the hardware look like an “artifact” of the future.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Limited Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

Following the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Microsoft’s Bing Rewards Program held a contest where the lucky winners would receive this beautiful custom Xbox One console as the reward. The design is fairly simple, featuring a graphic of the wolf head medallion on the front, and a massive sketch of our protagonist Geralt on the top. And while Microsoft intended to sell these Limited Edition consoles in collaboration with CD Projekt apart from the contest, it seems that the plan never came to fruition.

Forza Motorsport 6 Limited Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

This Limited Edition Console was sold as part of a promotional campaign for Forza Motorsport 6, and came bundled with a download code for the full game. Its color and matte finish are both inspired by the game’s cover car, the Ford GT, and it even has the iconic racing stripes that the brand is known for. These stripes wrap around the entire console, front to back, and it even has the Forza Motorsport logo on top.

Final Fantasy XV Magitek Soldier Special Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

The Magitek Soldier Custom Edition Console was one of three consoles given away by retailer JB Hi-Fi, in celebration of Final Fantasy XV launching across New Zealand and Australia. As its name implies, this one was inspired by the robotic Magitek infantry of Final Fantasy XV, and features the same color scheme and emblems as the enemies. The metal sheet and bolts really drive the automaton theme home.

Final Fantasy XV Magitek Armor Special Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

The second of the three consoles given away by retailer JB Hi-Fi, The Magitek Armor Special Edition Console takes its inspiration from the Magitek armor employed by the Empire of Niflheim in Final Fantasy XV.  This Xbox has the appearance of a worn down piece of machinery, and there are giant screws embedded into the rear end of the console. It has a dirty green color scheme, and even the buttons on the console are replaced with what appear to be rivets.

Final Fantasy XV Noctis’ Engine Blade Special Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

The last of the three consoles given away by JB Hi-Fi, this one was modeled after our protagonist’s default one-handed sword. And while the resemblance is far from perfect, the Xbox does feature the same motorcycle parts that the sword itself is comprised of, down to the engine and the handlebar. Even the grill of the console has been replaced by what appear to be exhaust ports.

Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Console

What immediately stands out about this particular design is the extravagant use of the color red, with the surface of the console almost covered in what is insinuated to be blood stains, clearly representative of the brutality and carnage that the series is known for. The grill bears the trademark Crimson Omen emblem, and the bottom of the console also features the Phoenix Omen emblem. But none of that is what actually makes this design truly special. What differentiates this Limited Edition Xbox from the rest is the fact that, upon closer inspection, you realize that the claw marks on both the console and the controller aren’t just painted on, they’ve been etched into the plastic with extreme precision.

Lamborghini Centenario Limited Edition Console

Microsoft likes to go big when the situation concerns its first party titles, and nowhere is that more evident than the release of Forza Horizon 3. In celebration of the game releasing, Xbox Germany, France and Australia gave away 3 limited edition consoles that were inspired by vehicles that appear in the game. The Lamborghini Centenario Console is by Xbox Australia, and it features a black and yellow theme similar to what the car itself looks like in the game; in fact, the entire thing is loosely based on the hood of the car.

Ford Mustang Limited Edition Console

Xbox France took it a little further and unveiled the Ford Mustang Limited Edition Xbox, which, as you can tell is shaped like the front end of a Mustang. It features the same iconic racing stripes and even has headlights modeled into the body, and if you look down, you can see the Forza Horizon 3 logo where the licence plate should be. The controller is jet black, and replaces the colorful theme of the buttons with pure black.

Audi R8 Limited Edition Console

And not to be outdone, Xbox Germany put out the most flashy of the three consoles. Modeled after the Audi R8, this glossy red Xbox has the trademark Audi logo on the front, and the same Forza Horizon 3 logo as the licence plate. It’s accompanying controller does away with the traditional power button present on all controllers, and replaces it with a Start/Stop ignition button like the one present in the car itself.

Dishonored 2 Limited Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

To celebrate the phenomenal success of their game Dishonored 2, Bethesda Softworks gave away some custom designed consoles on their Facebook page. And while the custom PlayStation 4 featured both protagonists on one console, two different ones were made for both Emily and Corvo. Each of the two have intricate artwork in the front that corresponds in appearance with their masks, and they even have the Dishonored 2 title next to the power buttons.

Game of Thrones Special Edition Console

the best limited edition xbox ones ever made

What better way to market the finale of Game of Thrones season 6, then to give away a custom Game of Thrones Xbox One. Based around the opening credits of the TV show, this console boasts some of the most ornate designs ever to be put on a piece of hardware. Those things on top, they’re inspired by the rings circling around the sun in the theme, and are made of actual metal. This Xbox is not light. Sadly, it also wasn’t available outside of France, and only three of these were given away as part of a contest.
