Xbox One Rise & Shine – Combine an arcade shooter, a bullet hell, and a puzzle platformer together and you get Rise & Shine. It’s down to you to save Gamearth and you’ll have to guide projectiles through mazes, electrify damaged equipment, and juggle 8-bit fruit among other things in order to succeed.
Halo Wars 2 – Halo Wars 2 brings the fast-paced RTS gameplay of its predecessor to the Xbox One. Players are put in control of a crew on board the Spirit of Fire as they fend off a new threat to humanity. Alongside the campaign, players can expect skirmish and multiplayer modes to make a welcome return, too.
Everspace – Currently in early access on PC and Xbox One, Everspace is a single-player space shooter with roguelike elements. Players will have to shoot, craft, and loot their way across the universe as they learn about their own existence through interacting with unique and interesting characters.
The Wild Eight – The Wild Eight is an open-world co-op survival game which pits eight characters against the harsh wilderness of the deep forests of Alaska after their plane crashed. On top of that, there are some mysterious entities making your life that little bit harder, too. There is no room for mistakes and you’ll need to work as a team to survive.
Verdun – Following its highly successful PC release back in 2015, Verdun is bringing its realistic WWI FPS experience to the Xbox One. Players will battle it out in immersive squad battles that take place in trenches, rather than open stretches of environment.
Tacoma – Coming from the studio behind Gone Home, Tacoma is another narrative-driven experience that takes place on a Lunar Transfer Station called Tacoma, 200,000 miles from Earth. Little else is know about the game, other than the fact it’s due to release sometime in Q1 2017.
Cuphead – After being delayed a handful of times, Cuphead is finally due to release around Q2 or Q3 of 2017. Adopting an art style very similar to that of 1930s cartoons, Cuphead tasks players with picking up new weapons and abilities to defeat it’s incredibly tricky boss battles.
Below – Below is brought to players by the same team behind Super Time Force. It’s a dark take on the roguelike genre with very little else known about it. The summary for the game reads “A procedural terrarium filled with life, mystery, and death.”
Crackdown 3 – Crackdown 3 lets players assume the role of a super-powered law Agent of justice once more as they explore an open-world sandbox futuristic city. The game will also have a multiplayer mode where you can destroy just about anything you see thanks to the power of the cloud.
Phantom Dust Remaster – Phantom Dust Remastered brings the classic strategy title on the original Xbox and gives it a fresh lick of paint. The game is a pseudo-card-based action and strategy title in which players must discover what left Earth in the condition it’s in.
Scalebound – Scalebound puts players in control of Drew, an ordinary guy who finds himself in the world of Draconis. Here, Drew is bonded with a dragon named Thuban that is also the last of its kind. Together, the two must defeat the enemies that threaten the safety of Draconis and Earth.
Sea of Thieves – Sea of Thieves allows you to live the pirate life you’ve always dreamed of. You can drink rum and get merry, search a large open-world for loot, or battle with other crews of players. The open seas are yours to do as you and the rest of your crew see fit.
State of Decay 2 – State of Decay 2 continues the zombie survival fun from the first game, and gives it a much larger, multiplayer focus. Players must build a lasting community and work together to overcome challenges and uncover their own story. Each character has their own unique traits and abilities, so you’ll need to use these to your advantage to survive. However, that might not be so easy, especially when the world will change and react to the choices you make along the way.
