steam, steam store, steam blog, steam community

Devil May Cry 5

This year’s DMC is a rip-roaring, hacking-and-slashing good time. We’re in love with it and are very glad it’s dropped from $59.99 to $39.59 on Steam.

Cities: Skylines

Some might say that Cities: Skylines is the best management game out there – it’s certainly given Civilization a run for its money. Regardless, Skylines’s price has been slashed by 75%. You can pick it up on Steam for $7.49.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

The sequel to 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot, Rise is arguably even better. Our review stated that “Its open and explorable hub areas that are filled with optional tombs and hunting and gathering crafting options, give it more depth than other games in its genre.” The Steam sale has brought Rise’s price down from $59.99 to $8.99. Not a bad deal!

Divinity: Original Sin 2

Many would tell you that Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the best CRPG of all time. With a pedigree that high, it’s hard to argue with Divinity 2’s sale price of $26.99.

Prey

Arkane Studios’ reputation for immersive simulation games only continued with Prey, a science fiction thriller that has you battle an infestation with a plethora of of the gadgets at your disposal. Sure, it wasn’t perfect, but for a 50% price cut at $14.99, it’s hard to argue against.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Last year’s Assassin’s Creed fully embraced the RPG elements that the series had been gravitating towards for years. It’s a captivating exploration of ancient Greece, and we’re very glad to see it on sale for $29.99.

A Hat in Time

If you’re starved for 3D platformers but don’t have a Switch, A Hat in Time is a delightful alternative to the classic Mario 64 formula. With a world full of collectibles and a care-free story, you really can’t help but smile. The Steam sale has Hat in Time at a comfortable $14.99.

Nioh

Nioh’s feudal Japanese setting and stance mechanic set it apart from Dark Souls. If you’re looking for something similar, but still a bit different from FromSoftware’s games, Nioh is a worthy contender for your time, especially at $19.99 on Steam.

Resident Evil 2

There were a lot of expectations riding on this year’s RE2 remake, and Capcom absolutely nailed it. Keeping the same nostalgic sense of horror, they reworked the moment-to-moment combat to be more like RE4’s. It’s fantastic, especially for a mere $39.59.

Monster Hunter: World

Monster Hunter: World requires a complete mastery of its world, encouraging you to read on every monster in your compendium learn their habits and weaknesses. With a DLC pack on the way and a 50% price cut on Steam, there’s no better time to hop into World than now.

Frostpunk

Frostpunk is about as dire as management games get. You’re a president of a freezing, dying town, forced to make stressful decisions to preserve as many of your villagers as possible. It’s no walk in the park, but Frostpunk is exciting nonetheless, and totally worth the $14.99 price of admission on Steam.

Civ VI Gold Edition

The nation management game Civilization VI has a golden edition that includes 6 DLC packs, an expansion, and will run you a whopping $127.92. Thankfully, the Summer Sale drops that price down to a much more manageable $29.54.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of The Tomb Raider was a bit controversial last year. While some gave criticized it for a number of reasons, our own Alex Gibson gave it a 4/5, saying it’s “absolutely worth playing.” Especially at a low asking price of $23.99, we confidently reiterate that statement.

Dark Souls III Deluxe Edition

Dark Souls III is far and away the most fast-paced in the series, which is fantastic for fans of Sekiro and Bloodborne. For anyone else? Give it a try anyway! The Deluxe Edition including all the DLC is a mere $21.24 for the Summer Sale.

Soulcalibur VI

Soulcalibur VI appeals to that same immediate action that any Street Fighter or Tekken does, but with the added tactical range of swordplay. It’s an absolute joy when you understand the rhythm, and definitely worth the $19.79 on Steam.

Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 might not have been as satirical as some might have liked, but that doesn’t mean the open-world isn’t still fun to goof around with. Light a bear on fire, launch an ox into the air, or blow up a speed-boat – you’ll find something dumb to do amidst the crumbling cultist Montanan community. For $19.79 on Steam, it’s totally worth it.

Bioshock: The Collection

The BioShock series is one of the most profound in gaming. The stark contrast between underwater hell-town Rapture and the fascist sky city of Columbia is fascinating. We wholeheartedly recommend picking up all three games in the series for a mere $14.99 while you can.

The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 is a pinnacle in RPG-design, open-world structure, and video game story-telling. While, yes, this game will be coming to Switch sometime soon, a reasonably powerful PC will do the incredible visuals justice. If you have 150 or so hours to spare, Witcher 3 is well worth your $11.99.

Jurassic World Evolution

Ever wanted to direct a Roller Coaster Tycoon-style park, but with dinosaurs? You’re in luck! Jurassic world Evolution lets you do just that, and the best news is that Jeff Goldblum plays as your adviser. Evolution is on sale for $13.49 during the Steam Summer Sale.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience

Metal Gear Solid V is arguably the best game in the series – given Metal Gear’s monumental legacy, that’s saying a lot. Our reviewer gave MGS V a 4/5, saying that “the gameplay is near flawless”, despite feeling that the story “lost its way a little.” The Definitive Experience is… well, the definitive way to play Metal Gear 5, as it includes Ground Zeroes, The Phantom Pain, and all the DLC packs. For $11.99, it’s a steal.
